pa xc runners at regional meets and beyond

Post by duece2 »

how will the pa athletes do at the regional meets and beyond?
such as craig miller and carly seymor?
and national contenders and or winners?
i think that craig miller could very well win the national title being the first winner from pa

seymour i thik could eventually do that being that she is only a sophomore

Craig Miller is a stud. I watched him go through teh 1200m split in 3:01 at last year's state track meet. He committed to WisconsinU last week.

Watch for Pitt and former Shaler Arae standout Sam Bair to do well at the MidEast regional Saturday at LehighU. He will be competing for a spot at NCAAs in a 10K XC race. Sam turned a 23:54 8K on the Lehigh course earlier this season (4:48 per mile pace for 5 miles!) Also, look for Sam to quite possibly break the 4:00 mile barrier indoors this winter and/or next spring.

Miller should do very well at Foot Locker, he should be in the top 5...Seymour is very good, but not in the upper echelon just yet. A top 40 for her at Foot Locker would be great.

Miller has a legitimate shot at the national Footlocker race. He was 15th last year, but only one underclassman from the top 10 returns, so that should be a wide open race. If Miller can hang with the top group, I would like his chances in a kickers race.

Seymour had a fantastic year, but has some work to do to get to the Footlocker championships. Her state time would have only placed her 10th in the AAA race. Considering you have to be in the top 10 in the whole Northeast region to make nationals, it doesn't seem likely. Usually PA will only get 1-2 athletes to qualify for Nationals. Granted, she may run a lot better in a race where she is not running by herself the whole time, but it's still a huge step. In future years, she could very well be there.

The AAA girls champ, Liz Costello, could be a force at the regionals and nationals. This a girl who is in her first year of CC. She was a soccer play up until this year.

Costello is a senior this year. She placed at states in the 800 last year running around a 2:12.

a 2:12 is pretty good for a girl esp. when your only a junior
what is her best time so far for the 5k race?
