Coach Steele
Coach Steele
Tussey has gone from 0-23 (or something like that) to 5-6 and playing for the District Championship. Here is a rumor I heard and have heard and I am wondering if there is any truth to it.
Coach Steele for the Titans left a school right outside of Washington D.C. where he had a teaching job and Head JV coach for a school. When he realized he could get the head coaching job for the Titans (Where he graduated) he left and went to Tussey under the understanding that if a science department job came up at Tussey he would get it. Steele was a substitute most of the year for Tussey and a Science job has opened up at Tussey but they have hired somebody else. Steele is a certified science teacher and has all the education needed for the position.
I do not know what a sub makes but it isn't near as much as a teaching job. Steele probably has a good enough Resume that he could find another coaching job. If I am a fan of the Titan's I would be very upset. They finally find somebody who does a good job and the players play hard for and they do this to him.
If this is true it may push him out the door and Tussey can go back to 0-9, 1-8 seasons. The school board members at Tussey must be geniuses.

He didn't say it was how it was. So please lets hear what you know or maybe you don't know crap either and just want to tell someone to be quiet because you don't like what he has to say. And full time day to day subs don't get near what a full time teacher gets.

Re: Coach Steele
Yes... I was under the understanding that Coach Steele was promised a job in the science department as well. He is a full time sub and has been at TM every day. His degree is in Chemistry and the Chemistry teacher is pondering retirement. If he does... I think the TM school board will most likely give the position to Coach Steele. However, I am only a student at TM and not fully informed of the school board happenings. This would just be my guess.
I share your opinion that it would be stupid for the school board not to hire him, because he possibly could decide to look elsewhere for a job. I doubt it though. He seems content back in Saxton, coaching these boys and being back in TMHS. I think it is unfair for the school board to pay him subs wages when he was promised a full teaching job, but I can't change the way things run.
To the best of my knowledge, which on this subject isn't very much, Coach Steele plans on coming back next year to coach the TM football team again and he will hopefully have a teaching postition at the school as well.

The players coming back would do good even if Steele wasn't there to coach. I've seen other qualified people apply to coach and they would have done just as well. It takes the players to make a coach,.. let's not forget where the actual talent is! I think Tussey was due for a turn around no matter who was hired as coach. :?
