Coach Salem: Where were McCort's senior stars?
As an LHAC fan throughout the season, I was able to follow both teams in the AA title game this season. I was puzzled as I left the field on Friday night! Were Rizzo and Spangler injured? I saw them dressed at the game, but they were not utilized during the game. In fact, I don't think Rizzo stepped on the field...
Spangler was the leading receiver this year and Rizzo was one of the most dangerous backs in the league. Can any Crusher fans lend some insight. It was a great game played by two outstanding programs... Good luck to the Rangers next week and BC tonight

Good question, I would love to know the thinking behind these decisions. Had McCort won, then we would not be asking these questions, But why would you not get the ball to a record-breaking reciever and your fastest back? Maybe Ken thought that Forest Hill's size would neautralize Spangler's posession reciever skills and Rizzo's speed? Or maybe they did something to piss him off, or maybe he just did not feel like playing them, because I have heard a Salem quote: "I'll play whoever the hell I want to play." What kind I say, he runs a tight ship. Reminds me of a Parcells quote. Then again Salem reminds me of Parcells a lil bit. haha

I've wondered all season why I didn't see more td's from Rizzo and Spangler. That's because neither kid got the ball enough. I don't know how much Mr. Barbin puts into the program but he must put in alot because BB is not better that Rizz. Concerning Spangler, he's a great athlete and he should have gotten the ball more receiving and on reverses. I've been told that Sheridan had some kind of trouble with his shoulder or elbow or something, so that may explain the lack of tds through the air. The Crushers had a big line and lots of talent that was good enough to beat Forest Hills and earn them a few victories in states. I guess we'll never know how far they could have gotten as long as KS is at the helm. Does Hollern coach football? Maybe he can right the ship like he's doing for the hoops squad.
