Turkey Trot Races at Hollidaysburg YMCA

Post by Lemmy »

Five miles race is hilly and the distance is slightly short. Two mile course is flat.

Any question give me a PM.

I heard from some of my friends the overall male and female in the 2 mile. The overall male was Steve Wainwright, McCort's 7th runner, and the overall female was Jill Spisak, younger sister of freshman Jim Spisak. They didnt know the winner of the 5 but the winning time was a 27:58 for the males and the winning female was in the 30's. Thats pretty impressive. Another runner from the area in this race was Chrsi Brown from BC who competed in the 5 mile and won the 15-19 age group, running somewhere in the 34's.

Actually, Wainwright was McCorts 8th runner. He was the District 6 AA Cross Country JV Champion. And the overall winning time in the two mile at the Turkey trot was slow. 12:50? And thats not the worst part, the worst part is that the second place runner was at 13:48. Some competition.1

lol i ran in the 2 mile and went on the 5 mile course... this course i thought was confusing the only thing that they really had that i could see was the road was painted yellow with arrows but there weren't a whole lot of them, i couldn't tell which one was for the construction company and which for the race
i signed up up for the 2 mile and ran the 5 miler and came in 3rd overall in 30:09 and would have been the winner of the 2 miler but the woman in charge of the run wouldn't let me get a medal even though they changed my tag to the 5 mile they still didn't give me a medal... i don't see what the difference was the price was the same for both races and if someone registered that morning it would have been the same thing
oh well i should have won the 15-19 age group in the 5 mile
there were 3 of us that went the wrong way and what tops it off was that the officials all told us to go that way in the 2 mile
so if you want to run this event next year then the event to run there is the 5 mile race because the 2 mile wasn't very well organized at all and you can just tell that the 5 mile was the there focus from the get go
a 12:50 won that 2 mile and i went through at a 10:52 through the split in the 5 mile and there were still 2 guys in front of me...lol

oh well
guess i should have just plain registered for the 5 mile
lol

if anyone can post any more races on here that you would know about that would be appreciated
i know that there is a race on the 31st of december at lakemont park in altoona and there is some kind of race in somereset on the tenth of dec,
that race is supposed to have age awards not age group...lol
so if you are 17 years old then you can surely get a medal as it is the top 3 in each age.

any others post the races on here no matter where they are really as long as there not too far away

I believe the winning time for the 2 mile was under 10 minutes. Maybe that's a little better competion for you. Julie Bravin Brown was the 5 mile winner.
