Maybe It's right in front of me and I'm missing it, but I don't see your logic on Pitt-PSU basketball and football scenarios being anywhere near the same.

Is Pitt asking PSU to play a 2 home 1 away in basketball???

PSU wouldn't fill up the place playing Pitt (at BJC)....they wouldn't fill it up playing anyone right now. And I doubt that 5,000 plus Pitt fans that it would take to get close a sellout at BJC (if not more) would high tail it to PSU to see a blow out.

Head Roadie- You proved my point for me if three teams are already leaving your conference why kick another team out until you have a team to fill their void. You still didn't answer why they were played the second week of the season instead of when the conference games would have been played.

I think what Ancient is saying is that if Penn State played at Pitt in football, that many of the fans there (if not most, perhaps, at least right now) would be Penn State fans, but Pitt would get the profits from ticket sales. In basketball, if Pitt played at Bryce Jordan Center, then most of the fans watching the game at Penn State would be Pittsburgh fans, but Penn State would get to keep the profits from ticket sales. It's one team making money off the other team filling the stands, so to speak.

apbk: PSU plays Temple in football at home next season THE NEXT TO LAST GAME OF THE SEASON!!! What does it matter what order you play your games in. Wisconsin just played hawaii the last game of the season. WVU opened it's season with Syracuse last year. Where does it say that you have to play non-conference games first?

Two things:

1. Don't need people speaking for me.

2. Why does every concept need to be explained in incredible detail for most of you to understand it?

abpk2903....I proved a point for you?? I proved that they had open dates on their schedule what else is there to prove???

The Temple issue was over basketball. They were actually allowed to stay an extra year if I remember correctly after Miami left to minimize the scheduling damage for one year.

It's an all-sports league and Temple refused to come in in basketball.

So all I proved to you was that there were open dates created by the 4 teams gone and only 3 added.

Next....you never asked in your post on the previous page why they didn't play on the second week of the season or whatever you mean so how was I supposed to answer a question that wasn't asked?????

The NCAA or Big East does not say Weeks A,C, D, F, G must be league games......they set the basic schedule and then the teams move things around to suit non-league dates.....You don't have to play anyone, anywhere on the schedule. The Big 10 is the closest thing to a closed and confined schedule that you will find. Other conferences are very flexible in when league and non-league opponents can play. Did any other Pac-10 teams besides USC and UCLA play the last week of the season as an example???
