The Final five in each Class
The FINAL P.I.A.A. Football Rankings ....
Here are the final rankings with the W.P.I.A.L. success in Hershey showing up in the final numbers.
The MSA Sports PIAA FINALTop Five:
Class (AAAA)
1. McKeesport (14-2) - Tigers only test since week one was Woodland Hills in the W.P.I.A.L. Championship and McDevitt in the Western Final!
2. Bishop McDevitt – Harrisburg (13-1): Proved to have a lot of individual talent, but lack of depth would have been a problem in a more competitive district.
3. Woodland Hills (10-3): One of a handful of teams that slowed the Tigers of McKeesport down.
4. Pittsburgh Central Catholic (10-2): Only loss to a PA. school was Woodland Hills in W.P.I.A.L. semifinals.
5. Liberty (13-2): First time state finalist.
Class (AAA)
1. Franklin Regional (15-1): Won first ever P.I.A.A. title but most impressively without starting QB for final "4" games!
2. Pottsville (13-2): Very good team that ran into a better team on a mission.
3. Thomas Jefferson (11-2): 26-3 over the past two seasons!
4. General McLane (12-1): Best District #10 team in 2005.
5. West Mifflin (11-1): Only loss to Franklin in W.P.I.A.L. semi-finals!
Class (AA)
1. South Park (16-0): Best (AA) team in quite some time!
2. Greensburg Central Catholic (11-1): The WPIAL Championship was more impressive than the PIAA Championship!
3. Wilson (12-3): Young team…watch for Wilson in 2006!
4. Montoursville (12-2): Made the coal region proud in 2005!
5. Lancaster Catholic (12-1): One loss…like other District #3 teams!
Class (A)
1. Southern Columbia (13-2): Maybe their best team to win a state title…
2. Duquesne (14-1): Elijah Fields forever…nope…and he will be missed.
3. Rochester (12-1): One of the most competitive Class (A) seasons in the W.P.I.A.L.…
4. Steelton-Highspire (11-3): One of the best A teams out of District #3 in a while!
5. Bishop Canevin (11-1): Too bad they are in the WPIAL…would have been a district champ in all other districts but 3 and 4!
