Re: Predictions for the upcoming season
windber has a lot of talent, and they play a more complete game than they did last year. even with their 3-point minded offense last year, they nearly knocked off Bedford in the title game. i think windber is going far this year.

The team that will win d5 will be Berlin. They only had 2 replace 1 senior last year and they were a contender 4 the title. Look out 4 the mountaineeers!

Re: Predictions for the upcoming season
Made the trip to Berlin last night to take in the Windber-Berlin matchup.
Final score: Windber 65 - Berlin 63
Observations and notes of the game:
1. Both teams played hard.
2. The Berlin team plays very physical and takes what the officials give them. Their defense reminded me of the clutch and grab style formerly played in the NHL.
3. The officiating left a lot to be desired. The two officials on the floor lost control of the game somewhere around the end of the 1st quarter and beginning of the 2nd quarter.
4. The Windber coach seemed to be having a hard time recognizing and adjusting to matchup problems on the floor. The Ramblers would build leads of 5 to 8 points only to lose them when substitutions were made that allowed #22 from Berlin to pick them apart.
5. Number 22 for Berlin is a legitimate shooter, especially from 3-point range. If you give this kid time to set his feet he is almost automatic.
6. The Windber bench must not be very deep. I may be wrong, but I believe the Ramblers only played 7 throughout the whole game.
7. The Berlin bench appears to be a little deeper. Again, I may be wrong but I believe that Berlin played 9.
8. The Berlin coaches showed their lack of judgement, and possibly maturity, when they elected to engage the Rambler faithful in a verbal confrontation after the game instead of just taking their team to the locker room.
9. Number 32 (Crognale I believe) for Windber is very active around the boards. He is always in good position and rebounds aggressively.
10. Number 13 for Windber is very athletic and savvy. He didn't stand out for much of the game, but in the final 3 minutes he made a couple of athletic plays on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball that helped secure the win.
It is my understanding that this is the only regular season meeting between these two teams. What a shame. Had there been a 2nd meeting at Windber scheduled it would definitely have been on my list of games to see this season.

Re: Predictions for the upcoming season
Berliin has nothing, only an outside game with 2 decent 3 point shooters. Zeigler is a strong player, and Zorn is uncoordinated to some extent. Suder is there just to take up space. No inside game without the presence of Mike Bowman.
