Shuffle: After three weeks of holiday tournaments, 20 of 25 team shifted positions and there are four additions to the rankings. Previous-No.#1 Montrose Christian (Rockville, Md.) lost in Honolulu, opening the door for Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), which won three games at the Academy National Invitational in dominant fashion, to slide into the top spot. No. #12 Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy won two tournaments, including the City of Palms Classic in Florida. No. #9 Artesia (Lakewood, Calif.) moved up nine spots after winning a tournament and is Southern California's top team. No. #17 Mount St. Joseph (Baltimore) is emerging as one of the East's top clubs after winning its first "17".
Player of the week: G Jon Scheyer of No. #19 Glenbrook North (Northbrook, Ill.) was named most valuable player of the Proviso West Holiday Tournament in Hillside, Ill., after scoring a tournament-record 140 points in four games. He also established single-game records for points (52), points in a half (32, tied) and in a quarter (28), all against Proviso West. In the same game, he scored 22 points in 75 seconds. Scheyer, who signed with Duke, is averaging 34 per game.
Must-see event: Friday-Monday, The Magic "32" Hoophall Classic at Springfield (Mass.) College's Blake Arena features "18" boys' games, including five Super "25" teams.
