Antonio Logan-El

Post by Head Roadie »

I have watched from afar while the entire Logan-El saga has unfolded. It was interesting to see that while the rest of the country felt he acted like a jerk at the press conference at ESPN zone, the PSU "groupies" had a much different take. All the PSU'ers on here are happy about the big guys change of heart from Maryland and touting him as a great addition. The rest of the country looks at him as an immature jerk who disrespectfully tossed Tennessee and Florida hats on the ground, wore a Maryland terps shirt the day before, and came to the press conference in a Red and black tie almost taunting the Maryland people and Friedgen's wife. The national media feels that JoPa better sit this Terrell Owens type guy (that's how one reported associated his actions) down and tell him how it is and how its gonna be and then I open the Altoona Mirror and read about what a wonderful guy he is. I read all positives on here. I think rather than worry about Elijah Fields' grades you should be worried about Logan-El's character.

Maybe Paterno just finally realized that you have to play dirty now. Rutherford was supposed to go to PSU and went to Pitt at the last minute. Kannel went to FSU, Jones went to V-Tech, Henne to Michigan, Eddie George went to OSU, and even Chris Simms was supposed to go to Penn State. That's just how it goes. Every school in America can supply a list of kids who should have played for them.

Logan-El on TV... that was ridiculous. I'm sure Paterno was pretty upset over that, but let it slide because he wanted the recruit. It sucks, man, but you gotta play their game to get them on board sometimes. Look what Jones did when he wore a PSU jersey to the press conference and then tore it off to show a Virginia Tech shirt.

Difference between Logan-El and Fields is that PSU doesn't need to bend the rules to make sure the kid is on the field. He shouldn't be playing ANYWHERE if he can't meet the academics. I realize he's there to play sports, but there are rules. Pitt is a good school.

I didn't see it happen, but I didn't like it either. I wish they wouldn't televise these things because that is what it becomes. They always have multiple things out and pick one. Now going overboard with it...I don't like that at all. Other than that I've heard lots of good things about the kid...I don't think he is the TO type at all from the many things I've read.

It does burn you though. I remember when Kevin Jones honestly acted like he was picking PSU only to remove his PSU shirt with a VT one under it. I hated him then...I'm glad ALE isn't a running back and is "just a lineman" so he can sort of get lost in the shuffle and not be a primadonna.

Why do they televise that crap? I could understand televising it if it was the pro's, but this is a kid who may never play a down after High School.
