BASKETBALL

High School Girls

Conemaugh Valley 38, North Star 37

BOSWELL – Sam Pollino and Jil Barnouski scored 14 and 11 points, respectively, and Pollino pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Conemaugh Valley to a narrow win and put the Blue Jays in command of the North Section in the WestPAC.

Brittany Danel scored 11 points and Cara Studer grabbed nine rebounds for the Cougars.

Bishop McCort 50, Bishop Carroll 37

Allison Ayres scored 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds, had four steals and dished out two assists for the host Crimson Crushers in a win over Bishop Carroll.

Shannon Yingling also scored 11 points and Marissa Basile added 10 for Bishop McCort. Kayla Ertter scored a game-high 18 points for Bishop Carroll.

Saltsburg 55, Laurel Valley 53

NEW FLORENCE – Tamera Blankenship led Saltsburg with 17 points and 10 rebounds in the Trojans’ win over Laurel Valley. Melanie Cribbs added another 12 points for the visitors.

Alysha Keith scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Laurel Valley, which also got 11 points from Heidi Hollingsworth. Brittany Hall added 10 points for the Rams.

Forest Hills 51, Cambria Heights 43

SIDMAN – Krista Tedjeske led Forest Hills with 14 points in a win over Cambria Heights.

Brittany Skyles scored 12 and had seven steals for Forest Hills and Stephanie Stohon scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Rangers. Amber Dubyak scored a game-high 22 points to lead Cambria Heights.

Conemaugh Township 49, Windber 30

DAVIDSVILLE – Megan Maurer and Stephanie Straka each scored 13 points to lead Conemaugh Township in a win over Windber.

Lisa Byer added 12 for the Indians. Alexis Lapinsky led Windber with 11 points and Laura Deyarmin added 10 for the Ramblers.

Richland 66, Somerset 36

Heather Klinar’s 16 points led Richland, but Sam Devett scored 12 and Mary Pavlovich had a dozen for the hosts. Devett and Klinar also got 10 rebounds each.

Nicole Hemminger led visiting Somerset with 10 points.

Portage 51, Ferndale 47

PORTAGE – Portage received 17 points from Kelli Kerch while teammate Brittany Brunnet scored 14, grabbed 17 rebounds and blocked eight shots.

Megan Walkovich also scored 14 for Portage. Sarah McAteer’s 13 points paced Ferndale.

Westmont 58, Johnstown 29

Kirsten Meenan and Kelly Britcher scored 10 points each to lead Westmont to victory at Johnstown.

Bedford 75, Penn Cambria 41

BEDFORD – Stephanie Gibbons combined 22 points with eight steals and four assists for Bedford. Teammate Chelsi Wise had eight rebounds, leaving her nine away from the Bisons school record of 639 by Mallorie Fox.

Katie Gerink’s 12 points topped the Panthers.

Northern Cambria 54, Marion Center 38

MARION CENTER – Jess Valeria scored 21 points to front the Colts while Brittany Sedlock added 12 and Christy Rocco and Jen Valeria had 10 each.

Central 59, Central Cambria 47

EBENSBURG – Alicia Nevins led Central with 18 points in a win over Central Cambria.

Jena Isenberg scored 14 points and Stefanie Hinton added 10 for the Scarlet Dragons. Samantha Link led Central Cambria with 14 points and Marya Markovich added 12.

High School Boys

Bishop McCort 78, Bishop Carroll 60

EBENSBURG – Pete O’Connor scored a game-high 26 points to lead Bishop McCort in a win over Bishop Carroll.

Matt Varga added 15 points for the Crimson Crushers. Adam Crookshank led Bishop Carroll with 16 points while Brock Lauer scored 15. Jeff Minemyer scored 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and Luke Bender added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies.

Forest Hills 62, Cambria Heights 35

PATTON – Dan Myers put up 12 points and was helped by teammate Jake Oswalt’s 10 as the visiting Rangers defeated the Highlanders.

Ben Vescovi’s eight points led Cambria Heights, which was outscored 34-17 during the first half.

Salisbury-Elk Lick 65, Paw Paw, W.Va. 58

SALISBURY – Shane Knopsnyder led Salisbury-Elk Lick with 22 points in the Elks’ win over Paw Paw. Aaron Beiler scored 17 points for the Elks and Kevin Shiffer added 13.

Somerset 75, Richland 57

SOMERSET – Adam Angermeier led Somerset with 19 points in a win over Richland and Conlan Walsh added 14 for the Golden Eagles.

Jim Cover topped Richland with 17 points while Dino Tessari scored 14 and Andy Rubal added 13.
