The heading is "Bush Plan Would Cut Survivor Benefits".
The first 2 paragraph's:
If President Bush gets his way, the venerable $255 Social Security death benefit will fade into history. And 16- and 17-year-old high school dropouts will lose their monthly survivor payments.
Not, however, if Democrats get their way.
Now here's my take.
1. Do a Google search on DAVID ESPO; liberal. Now just click on a couple of those links.
2. Shouldn't reporters' articles maybe be a little un-biased? How about a title like "Bush Budget Proposes Savings for Social Security".
3. The $255 being referred to is a one time payment for funeral expenses, set back in the 50's. The article goes on to explain this, but way, way later in the article.
4. No one, and I mean no one, had the stones prior to Bush to attempt to save social security. And at every turn, at every attempt to do so, the Democrats have fought it, and the weaker Republicans wouldn't back it.
