Track Star Changes Schools
Track star Kearins changes schools; WPIAL leads prep recruiting
2/9/2006,
The Associated Press :
(AP) — One of the state's top high school track-and-field athletes has changed schools for the second time in her career.
Liz Kearins, the 2004 P.I.A.A. Class (AAA) 800-meter champion as a freshman at Central Bucks West, has transferred back to C.B. West after spending her sophomore season and part of her junior season at Gwynedd Mercy Academy.
Kearins was unable to repeat her gold medal in the 800 last year, losing to freshman Benita Taylor of Engineering & Science High School in Philadelphia.
Karins did run a leg on Gwynedd Mercy's state championship 3,200-meter relay team. She also finished 19th in the 2005 P.I.A.A. Class (AA) cross country championships last fall.
"I talked to her parents last week," C.B. West principal J. Kevin Munnelly said. "They just said Liz felt she'd be happier here. Unless I have a reason to see otherwise, I'm happy she's happier. That's all. That's the bottom line."
Kearins did not attend Central Bucks West High School when she won her 2004 P.I.A.A. championship; she was still a student at Lenape Middle School, one of C.B. West's feeder schools.

Central Bucks West is a good-sized, AAAA public school in District I.
If you don't know where you're going, you'll probably end up somewhere else.
