Shame, shame
From FightOnState, Tuesday April 18: Portland Draws Sanctions... Following a seven month investigation, Penn state is sanctioning women's basketball coach Rene Portland for violating the school's non-discrimination policy as it pertains to sexual orientation. The school's Office of Affirmative Action handled the internal investigation. The final report concluded that "enough evidence existed to substantiate a claim that Portland discriminated against Jen Harris by creating a hostile, intimidating, and offensive environment because of Harris' sexual orientation. The sanctions are as follows: 1) Portland received a letter of reprimand which will remain as part of her personnel file at Penn State, 2) Portland has been alerted that further violations will result in losing her job, 3) Portland must participate in a "professional development experience devoted to diversity and inclusiveness", and 4) Portland received a $10,000 fine. The University said the federal lawsuit filed by Harris is scheduled for mediation.

Re: Shame, shame
It's ALL TOM BRADLEY'S FAULT!!!! If he had only composed more handwritten letters to the disenfranchised young lady, this never would've happened!!!!
Dear Jennifer,
We really want you to jump aboard the train at Penn State to join our storied women's basketball program. I think that you may have real promise as an Outside LB in our football program, too.
We here at PSU live and wholeheartedly embrace an inclusive, cosmopolitan, accepting, and diverse environment where folks from all backgrounds come together and live as one in peace and harmony. You can tell how cultured and diverse things are in State College. Just look out the window of your car on your drive up US 322 West from your home in Central PA and you'll see what a metropolitan, chic, and diverse area we are! pay particularly close attention to the last 30 miles where you'll find Milroy and Yeagertown. Be sure to stop there, I am sure that the locals will embrace whoever you are with open arms!
Just ask any of our students here at PSU how accepting our community is of outsiders and those who are different. I think that you'll find our coach to be so very tolerant and understanding of others who are different than her. I can guarantee you this: Coach Portland will never embarass and disgrace our University by discriminating against any of the players, regardless of race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, or creed!
Come on, won't you join us?
Love,
Coach
Tom

Wow, it took Moldo a whole six hours before he posted this.
If she discriminated against anyone based upon anything other than ability on the court, she should go.
I think it's funny though, how many of you who questioned the handling of, and suggested the University botched, covered up, and stone-walled the Paxson investigation will now trumpet the University's findings regarding Portland.

Funny thing is, is that it's not some made up crap that TAE puts out. It's not opinion. IT'S THE TRUTH!!!! I honestly thought, that with his attitude on drunkin' driving and rape, that JoePa would have stepped in to defend her. You know, "Hey, nobody got hurt!!!!"

It took a whole 6 hours before posting this story???? Harry Truman once said, "I never did give anybody hell. I just told the truth and they thought it was Hell". I have been accused of Penn State bashing on this site. But as with Harry Truman, I don't bash Penn State. I just tell the truth and you guys feel bashed.

Yes, Harry Truman was a solid Penn State fan, he never bashed Penn State.

Re: Shame, shame
Yes I make everything up. Nothing I say makes any sense, I've never been right on anything. When a defense does the exact same things through TWO seperate coaches, it's clearly not the fault of the defensive coordinator who was there both times! Blame it on Harris! History is never an indicator of the future!
Yeah, Harry Truman, there's a guy to look up to. Has a problem and drops a nuke on it. Should have been a man and listened to MacArthur like everyone wanted instead of hiding behind the atom bomb.

Re: Shame, shame
I heard after the hearing, a member of PSU's affirmative action committee told Rene she should watch The Flintstones. Because "when you're with the Flintstones, have a yabba dabba doo time, a dabba doo time, you'll have a GAY old time".........And TAE, you don't make things up???? Then you were serious about the backs of blacks and Mexicans????

Do you even have a counter argument to that, Moldy? When you're ready, come get me, I'll be in the beer tent teaching these Asian broads how to play chuck-a-luck.
