Were they? I don't know.
Berlinsoccer, what's going on with Megan Elder? Just wondering, as she got third in the meet in the 3200, and didn't run (or didn't place) in the 1600. She was impressive as a freshman, and as a soph, she was alright, but kind of gangly after growing about four inches. Did she hit another growth spurt, overwork herself, get sick, get injured, or what's going on with her? It's unfortunate, as I'm kind of pulling for her, but sometimes the freshman phenoms end up fading away in the next two or three years. I'm not saying whether she is or isn't, or what's going on, all I know is that this kind of performance is not what I've come to expect of Elder, and I'm curious as to what's going on.

Re: NBC Invite Results?
What a horribly run meet. There was never any announcements about placewinners during the meet, there was no postings after the 100m, no team scores were announced. I thought this was a poorly organized event.
It bothers me that new people to the sport that might have come out to watch had no idea what was or going on who was winning. I was there and still don't know some of the results.

welcome to track lonewolf, very rarely does any average spectator have a clue as to what the score is during a meet/invitational. Now some of the bigger ones i.e. WCC's or Districts will announce or post results, but its very rare. (ps. the Bedford Invite always posted and announced results whilst I was in charge   )

well gunner, from what i hear about the beford invite. It is one on the most poorly done meets of the entire year. I think some duel meets are run better than that thing. From what i hear, the people runnin it have no clue what they are doin. The kid from the one school ran an extra 40 yards in the 400. The people runnin the pit cant make up their mind what side of the tape to use to measure and use either side. So dont be talkin about the nbc invite. At least they have people that know what they are doin. Most invitationals do post results though. WCC, Districts, Countys, and i think SHLC all post results and current scores.

Actually, I was at the Bedford Invite this year and I would have to say the difference is what got me upset. Throughout the Bedford Invite placewinners were announced and I knew what was going on in the team scoring. I didn't hear as many athletes complaining about the timing either. I think it also helps that they had trials then finals. How else can the top times come from different heats especially with the rounding of hundreths of seconds. I think 3 or 4 people ran the same time in the 100m.

Megan Elder is going through kind of a rough time. Her abillity to run the longer distances is way below what it was when she was a freshman due to her growth spurt she had before last year's season. And I think a little bit that her heart and mind isn't as in it this year as in the past. Her mom is having some health problems and personally, I think concentrating on her mom is the better route in the long run anyway. I still wish her the best of luck as she was one of my favorite little freshmen when I was a senior.

She was also one of my favorite freshman runners during my senior year, as the girl has a lot of talent. And if her heart's not in it, that is very understandable, especially with what her mother is going through. I do wish her the best of luck with her mother and whatever she pursues as far as running (or anything else for that matter).
