Preakness

Post by frostlion »

What a truly grim race.

For some reason horse racing is super duper huge in southern Ohio (I guess because it's close to Kentucky).

I bet Sweetnorthernsaint as a 4-1 odd.

Truly awful for Barbaro...was absolutely awful to see him pull up lame and I hope he can at least be saved to be put out to stud.

It was awful to see him break down like that. Hopefully, he'll be able to live. I've seen a lot of horse races, and that's about the worst I've ever seen injury wise. I think it cost him a triple crown, too.

usually if the horse wins the first two legs, they fail to win the bellmont because it's longer than the first two, but that's the distance that barbaro was actually trained for. i think he would have been a triple crown winner if he hadn't broke his ankle.

Looks like he made it out of surgery (six hours) and now the Docs give him a 50-50 chance. I guess for horses the issue is blood flow to the legs and possibility of infection.

yup...takes bloodflow to heal anything, unfortunately horses just don't have it down in their legs.
