Big difference here. Getsy lost the QB job at Pitt fair and square and wimpered away. Hostetler, who was one of the top NFL QB's for awhile, left PSU because Paterno didn't evaluate his talent properly.

Boy, that kettle really IS black. But it was okay for Bostick to whimper away from Penn State the second Devlin committed.

Let's do eachother the favors on here of knowing how stupid it is to gauge college success on how a guy does in the NFL. From all accounts, Getsy is a leader and a good QB. He also has a trophy to show for his accomplishments. His career in college is already better than Hostetler's ever was. It's all well and good for that kid to change his mind and go to WVU, and all well and good for Paskorcz (sp) to go to Notre Dame and we wish him well, but when a kid sees that he has a better opportunity elsewhere and sees the writing on the wall, then you're a traitor. The hate for Getsy by the Pitt fans, who's own team showed them that Getsy was second-rate, is overwhelming. You dont play in the MAC, you dont need to worry about him beating you. He doesn't play for Ohio.

Had Bostick given a verbal to Penn State? If not, what's the big deal? NO one hates Getsy. But you guys made him out to be a God since his team won their conference, even after Sagarin showed they were the 7th best team in their league.

Texas is not the national champion either then, right? Even though they beat USC straight-up, USC is still somehow better than them. Thought we could only go by what happened on the field, Moldo? Thought Akron "played by the rules and won their conference" just like Pitt did, Moldo? He might not be a god, but he's assuredly a champion. 6 teams are not better than Akron when Akron wins the conference. New Brighton was better than Forest Hills too... until Forest Hills won the west.

Getsy lost the starting job at Pitt FAIR AND SQUARE. Then he pouted and left.... Bostic NEVER committed to PSU in any way, shape or form.... Paterno wanted to make Hostetler a linebacker. He said chuck it and left. All three are completely different stories. Saying that they are the same, or comparing them is absurd.

1. Akron, with Getsy's leadership and talent, won a conference no one ever gave them a chance at winning.

2. You don't know how good of a LB Hostetler could have been. Lots of guys make position changes in college and excel. Hostetler was such a great QB at WVU that he never went over 9-3 and never won anything while there. What happened in the NFL was what happened in the NFL.

3. Penn State's OOC schedule features what? 2 conference champions and a BCS team that many have #1 in the country right now.

4. Bostick was a PSU guy until PSU wanted Devlin instead. They knew what would happen to Bostick if they landed Devlin. Pitt got Penn State's sloppy-seconds.

5. Tyler Palko is one of the best QB's in the country. Out of 119 starting I-A QB's, there's probably only 10 better than Palko. All those other guys would have sat at Pitt, regardless of how good they were. Getsy made the right decision by realizing he is only going to get one chance at this football thing. There's only millions of dollars on the line.

TAE: Don't know what to call this: beautiful or as Moldo put it: totally absurd. First of all, did I not predict in another post that the Nitwit spin machine would take whatever Western Pa. kids committed to Pitt and call them "sloppy seconds". Proving you have been injected cerebrally with some Blue & White stupid serum:

This is the #1 rated prospect in Pa.....!!!!!!?????????

And you lump these guys as if from the same class! PB is still a HS Jr.
And remember PD Committed to Miami, saw lack of playing time handwriting on the wall and whimpered into Nitwit Valley! You literally got Miami's sloppy seconds! To Compare a Hs Jr & a College Jr ?????? Again, what's that mandatory frosh course @ UPS: Pretzel Logic!

Isn't Devlin gonna redshirt? How is he a college junior?

Nobody on this board is stupid enough to think Bostick isn't the best quarterback in the state. It's obviously a good pick up, for ANY team, to get him. All I am saying is that Pat Bostick was leaning at PSU until Devlin committed. The second Devlin committed, Bostick not only stopped leaning at PSU, he completely took their offer off his board as they were out of the running.

There is no comparison between the Bostick/Devlin situation and the Wright/Devlin situation. Kyle Wright already started as the QB of one of the top 5 teams in the nation and he's very young and many people think he's gonna be one of the very best QB's Miami ever produced, which is saying a lot. Devlin not going to Miami is probably a good thing for him, as it would be for basically any freshman QB. The situation at pitt is that there is no strong candidate at QB behind Palko. It's a smarter move for Bostick to go jump immediately into that backup role, because he already has name recognition. Morelli is going to be the QB for 2 more years at PSU and I think they pretty much told Bostick what they thought of him when they went after Devlin so hard instead. In that sense, he is Penn State's sloppy-seconds.
