GEEEZZ! First of all Vman did not write about Iraq's wmd's like he knew they had them. I qouted your boy Hans!!! In his official report to the UN Security Council on January 28, 2003!!!!! This is a synopsis/highlight of his report:
Blix noted that Iraq was failing to provide "evidence" that it had destroyed weapons that UN inspectors know were once in Iraqi arsenals.
He cited missing inventories of imported chemicals and missile engines, as well as the stock of such weaponry that Iraq possessed in the 1990s and has never accounted for.
"Iraq has not genuinely accepted the UN resolution demanding that it disarm and while Baghdad is cooperating on access, it needs to do more on substance" to demonstrate that it ended its pursuit of missiles and biological and chemical arms, Blix told the 15-member Security Council.
Blix cited "significant" questions about banned medium-range missiles (including 350 recently imported missile engines) in secret development in Iraq. An even bigger problem, he said, concerns growth media for anthrax, possibly as much as 5,000 liters (1,320 gallons).
And remember his first two go-arounds in Iraq:
As director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from 1981 to 1997, he was in charge of overseeing inspections of the Iraq's nuclear programme.
During that time, the Iraqis managed to hide an advanced nuclear weapons development programme from the IAEA.
It was only discovered after the Gulf War in 1991.
Mr Blix says the experience taught him something. "It's correct to say that the IAEA was fooled by the Iraqis"
What I believe really has nothing to do with the these facts presented!!

I deal with sick people yet still feel @ a loss to explain the actions of this madman who sponsored state condoned rape, torture, murder and mass genocide of his own citizenry!

As you said, Saddam wasn't stupid. He sponsored the rape, torture, murder and genocide so he could stay in power. He was downright evil to anyone who could possibly threaten his power. That just makes it all the more curious as to why he would create WMD and risk being attacked by the USA all over again.
