A terrorist is an individual or group that intentionally targets civilians rather than the Army which is in plain sight "invading their" so called country. An Army that they provoked to invade in the first place.

A terrorist is an individual or group that intentionally hides in residential areas, and hopes they get targeted, so they can "claim" that Israel is targeting civilians. Incidently the rules of engagement allow for civilian areas to be targeted if the enemy is hiding there.

Terrorists use car bombs, airplanes and individuals to blow up civilians because they are too cowardly to actually face an opponent. Which is why they hide their faces.

Terrorists' tape the beheading of innocent civilians by their own hands and send the tapes to their favorite TV station to incite fear and capitulation.

A terrorist is an individual or group that wants you dead ... for the following reasons

You are a westerner.
You believe in freedom.
You aren't Muslim (or are you?)

As far as these people are concerned unless you're Muslim, you're an infidel and deserve death.

Mohammed didn't give his followers a reason to live .... so he gave them a reason to die.

Yeah I'm a Muslim, Xylo. How many times do I need to say that I am not on anyone's side in this conflict? I want America to stay out of it!

Do I actually need to explain how idiotic this is? They are "too cowardly". I think hijacking a plane and crashing into a building is a pretty dang bold move!!! Obviously it's horrible, and I am trying to explain to you boneheads that getting mixed up in other people's drama makes it OUR problem. What those terrorists do is about as far from "cowardly" as you can get.

First of all, most radical groups are severe minorities. That's why they are RADICAL, and not the "norm". Its more of a numbers issue as to why they attack they way they do, and b/c hiding amongst the masses causes so much internal fear. They know exactly what they are doing, and they are pretty good at it. These people do not have the manpower or the weapons to challenge their opposition in a field someplace like 1770's Yorktown. Is that the way the United States and others fight their wars, Xylo, or do we bomb the hell out of everything from afar? They do what is in their means to get their point across. It is ANYTHING but cowardly, and that's the real thing we need to worry about.
As far as these people are concerned unless you're Muslim, you're an infidel and deserve death.
Pick up a history book and then get back to me about how this is any different from the religious arrogance displayed by Christians since day one.

As usual, you're more concerned with keeping an argument going by zeroing in one one word rather than address the main focus of the post.

So muslims are a minority? Your error is that you think this is just small bunch of radicals. The Quran itself (sic) essentially states that you are a bad muslim unless you are a jihadist and willing to do whatever is necessary to vanquish (kill) the infidels. There are even guidelines for how muslims are to live in a weakened state (where they are still a minority), like the US.

While Christians may have a sorted early past ... and they may still have a rogue individual or group with bad theology, I don't see any behavior from them that resembles the behavior displayed by Muslims. Additionally, mainstream Christians condemn such actions from those who claim to be Christians. I haven't seen too many Muslims or Muslim nations condemn much of anything, except the west.

While Christians may spread the word, there are no forced conversions, each person has the free will to make their own decision. What "free will" is there in Islam? It's convert, die, or pay a tax and become a second citizen (if your lucky).

While we're checking history books, perhaps you should check how well the appeasement policies worked in containing Hitler prior to world wars 1 and 2. Keep in mind the president of Iran (Imanutjob) is trying to usher in their version of the end of the world. Abandoning Israel would be just the kind of appeasement her enemies would need.

While that may sound extreme, many think that we are in the early stages of WW3 and that a showdown with Muslims is inevitable. Might I suggest the book "Prophet of Doom" (search google, there is an online version). Perhaps your view of "peaceful" muslims may change. It may be from an opposing point of view and even deemed hateful, but the content gives a good look into ordinary Muslim theology and an up close look at your peaceful prophet.

I actually feel sorry for most muslims. They've been virtually brain-washed into their theology from an early age and taught that hatred of (Jews, freedom, "the west") is how a good muslim should think and act.

When your led to believe that killing infidels and dying in the process is a sure ticket to heaven (and your 72 virgins), then flying airplanes into buildings and suicide bombers, each designed to kill innocent civilians, are COWARDLY acts.

I didn't say Muslims were a minority. But not every Muslim is a member of Hezbollah or Al-Quaida. Not only is that a completely offensive generalization, it is also borderline racist. I wanna know how your statements about the Muslim faith are any different than how Muslims view Jews or Christians.

Speaking of wanting to eradicate a whole mass of people who have different views than you do, I'm glad you brought up appeasement. Since it is convienient now for Xylo to use the theory of "we need to learn from history", and get rid of ll the Muslims, which he claims is inevitable, why can we not apply that "learning" theory to American involvement in other areas of the globe? Look at the countless times America has stuck their nose in other people's business and look how many people OF OURS died for no reason. Maybe countries need to take more responsiblity for themselves. When is the last time you were out in the woods, saw a live hornet's nest, and just decided it would be a great idea to jam your hand inside of it?

Xylo claims that "early on" was when Christians were savages, not anymore. Christ was preaching to the old men at the temple when he was what? 13? That means that the history of Christianity dates from 13 AD to 2006 AD. That's about 2000 years. One great example, the Spanish Inquisition, ended in 1834. So, I'd like to know how 1834 constitutes "early on" in a 2000 year history.

I think the argument can also be made that any kind of bulldozing, I mean "missionary work", by Christians into non-Christian areas is also a form of extermination. Just because you are not using guns and poison gas doesn't mean you are not destroying something. Believe it or not, it is okay for people to live their lives in South America or Indonesia without knowing about Jesus Christ. I do wonder what our approach to Native Americans would have been if they were Christian people prior to our "relocation" programs.

Xylo is a fellow Ranger and fighting with him is not the same as fighting with Vman or whoever else. So I'm done until further antagonization by the peanut gallery, aka non-Xylo types. I will say this though... I do wonder how gung-ho some people on here would be about defending Israel if one of their pre-25 yr old sons was called-up into the "Israeli" National Guard. Are you still going to be gung-ho or are you gonna say "what the hell are we doing there in the first place?"

As Xylo said, I think a terrorist is someone who attacks WITHOUT provocation for political aim. You know, as in the guy who throws a SUCKER PUNCH. As the guy who is a cheapshot artist. The blowing up of the USS Cole, the Twin Towers come to mind. Attacks that were NOT provoked. And what's going on today in Lebanon can be traced to the same thing, with Hezbollah coming across the Israeli border to kill and kidnap Israeli soldiers. This is how you describe terrorists. The unprovoked setting off of car bombs in crowded bus stations is a prime example. But the key here is the part about UNPROVOKED.

For God's sakes. How are these attacks unprovoked?????? You have a nation who has committed countless atrocities against many Arab nations, mainly the Palestinians, and we support them!!!! That makes them hate us, too. Which is why I keep saying that it becomes OUR problem. Israel continues to exist, not of its own responsibility, but because we support them striaght across the board. How many times do I need to say this: obviously the Arabs are going to start hating the US for supporting Israel!!! I'm not saying either side is in the right, Israel or the Arab world, but come on, fellas. You have two peoples that severely hate one another. If a third party, who is MUCH more powerful than the other two opposing parties, starts supporting one of the whole-heartedly, what the hell do you think is going to happen? Arabs are supposed to love the United States? We give Israel the weapons to attack them!!! Once again, I am not taking either side, Arabs or Israelis.

Unprovoked attacks, give me a break. Whether or not we did the right thing by going into the Gulf in 91, we STILL, at the end of the day, MEDDLED IN SOMEONE ELSE'S MATTERS. That causes animosity, fellas. These attacks are NOT unprovoked. Syria, Palestine, Iran, Iraq. It's the same kind of brotherhood that we have with England and I guess Israel too. If one of those countries gets in a tight spot, we're on their side no matter what. Why is it so hard to understand that if we have "cousins" like England or Isarael, and when they get into it we also get into it, that the same is not said for the Arab world?

I am actually not even an isolationist, contrtary to belief. I see no problem helping someone when they ask for your help, in one way or another. How many times were petitions with 50 million Iraqi signatures on it sent to our White House? Zero. How many times were there serious rebellions against the Soviet leadership or Saddam Hussien or The Taliban or the Viet Cong? If the PEOPLE (which is who we claim to be defending) want US support, they'll ask for it, in one way or another. Other than that, I see no sense in getting involved in mid East matters that have been going on since BC. What I am saying is, I want to see YOU try to fix things, before you come and ask for help. I want to see the people rise up if they care that much. Because, even in times of dictatorships, when there is rebellion, there are many more rebels in the hierarchy than what you think there are. Even Hitler's generals tried to kill him how many times?

Then we have a set of rules made up, and give Israel free exception to disregard those rules. I guess you think that doesnt create animosity. If Moldo's kid is returning a kickoff, and he runs out behind the bench to avoid a tackle, and then runs all the way down the sideline out of bounds to the end zone, is that a touchdown? "After conferring with the other refs, we have decided that yes he was out of bounds, but we're going to give them the touchdown regardless." You can't do that!

There is a UN resolution right now calling for a ceasefire. What did Israel's president say? "we reject the ceasefire". You cannot a UN ceasefire. Especially when the US supports you! Why are they allowed to get away with this crap? Why is Israel allowed to bomb government offices, kidnap government officials, who are legimately in thegovernment, and execute them without any kind of reprocussions from the United Nations? When you creat exceptions, none of the rules matter anymore.

What does Israel want now? "UN Peacekeepers in south Lebanon". Oh, you reject a ceasefire, reject the UN in every other capacity, and now they want UN troops!!! And guess what? Call your neighbor that has a kid in the US National Guard and tell that kid "good luck" in Lebanon, because we are about one second away from sending OUR people over there.

Let's give another example of provoked and unprovoked. 1) One day John, who is a smoker, goes into a restaurant. Not seeing the No Smoking sign, he lights one up. The two owners notice this and without warning, beat the **** out of him and throw him into the street. Our smoker then goes back home, gets his machine gun, and goes back to the restaurant killing the two owners and destroying the place. THIS IS A PROVOKED RESPONSE. Then we have 2) John, who is a smoker, is sick and tired of all these restaurants forbidding him to smoke while eating. One day he notices a restaurant with a NO Smoking sign outside. Fed up with this philosophy, he goes home, gets his machine gun, and goes back to the restaurant killing the two owners and destroying the place. THIS IS AN UNPROVOKED RESPONSE......The unprovoked response is what you see with terrorists. They try to make a politcal statement by cheap-shotting or suckerpunching someone to get a message across. The provoked response is what you see from Israel in their present conflict with Hezbollah. They were suckerpunched so they responded. Just because you disagree with someone else's philosophy, doesn't give you the right to blow them up or kill them in order to make your distaste for them known. That's what terrorists do.

1. Russia
2. Iraq
3. Korea
4. Vietnam
5. Afghanistan
6. Panama
7. Cuba
8. Libya

Did I miss any? It really is a miracle that so much hypocrisy can be in someone's head without it exploding.

Did we all cheer today when the cease-fire looked like it was gonna be initiated? Sounds like those dastardly Hezbollian ISLAMOFASCISTS and all those doggone dirty Jews are about to sign a cease-fire. HOORAY!!! So now everyone can pat Israel on the back, right?

Not quite. The cease-fire starts at 8 AM Monday, as spoken by Kofi Annan, the leader of the very incompetent United Nations. So, even though there is going to be a cease-fire, guess what all your little friends in Israel did today, fellas? In a very classy act, they decided to push their offensive harder into lebanon as quickly as they could. Instead of just stopping at current positions and bombing from afar, Israel pushed the pedal to the floor and drove farther into Lebanon, AFTER they agreed to the ceae-fire for Monday. Yay!!! Hooray for Israel's right to defend itself!!! "We gotta hurry up!!! We gotta kill as many people as we can, we only have a day and half left, and I still have all these tank missiles laying here!!!" Congratulations for your support of Israel.

Oh, wait it gets better. Guess what else is going to happen. 15,000 UN troops are about to go to Lebanon to "help guide Israel's withdrawl". 15K people need to stand by the road and point a finger in the direction of Israel so that all the tanks leaving Lebanon know which way is home, I guess. Give me a break. Are we placing any bets yet who gets to go be the "peacekeeping force" over there? Since the ratio of US to Allied troops in UN situations is about 500,000 to 20, I would probably say 10K will be Americans, 25 will be Japanese, 9 will be from Germany, 6 from Togo, and 100 from Australia, etc. Congratulations, United Nations, for once again bowing to Israeli stipulations, instead of vice versa.

Please, Maestro, say there is no more! Oh, not quite. There is one more really classy thing to report.

A senior government source said that Israel would not be obligated to withdraw from Shaba Farms, even if Annan's investigation determines that they belong to Lebanon.

TOUCHDOWN!!!! MOLDO'S KID WINS ONE FOR THE RANGERS!!!!

"What a run!!! Never before in the history of Forest Hills football have we seen someone run behind Morris's on a kick return, and then cross 869 in front of the high school and run into the endzone!!! What a play! The Rangers win the Super Bowl!!! And look at Cambria Heights... they are just sitting there clapping like good sports. They are happy for the kid, and happy that Forest Hills won the game. What a bunch of good sports. Some folks would be upset at how the refs gave FH a very illegal touchdown, but the great people of Patton are just too classy for that. Congratulations, Rangers!!!! YOU EARNED IT."

Hey. All I was doing was answering your ORIGINAL question of what is a terrorist, that's all. My answer is based on provoked and unprovoked attacks and actions. Now if you want to talk about the cease-fire, etc then that's another story.... Now what is the purpose of a deadline? It tells you when something should stop or start. Let's say you live in a state does not have a sales tax. And then you hear that on August 15th one will be imposed on goods sold in that state. Wouldn't everyone go out and buy alot of stuff in the next few days just to save money, you know, so they wouldn't have to pay it later? That's kind of what Israel is doing now. They're in the middle of a conflict with Hezbollah, an enemy they will definitely have to face again some day. Before the deadline to cease fire, they are trying "hurt" Hezbollah as much as they can. Just one question: If this cease fire does go into effect, and U.N. observers finally come into place, who do you think will eventually cause that cease fire to fail, Hezbollah or Israel?

It all depends. Are they even swapping hostages?

I did not see the news yesterday, but a friend of mine called and said that CNN had some show where a few professors were on there saying that they had evidence to support a claim that Iran was planning to nuke Israel on August 22nd. He couldn't remember all the details, and like I said, I didn't see it. The point of bringing this is up goes back to 'war between factions' that I brought up, where Arabs are still cousins, and the US has its cousins, all of whom stick together or the most part, especially in times of fiascos. So, yeah, Israel will definitely be fighting Hezbollah again I am sure, as well as everyone else. When you let Israel run rampant into Lebanon prior to the cease-fire, what does it do? Creates MORE animosity towards them, and the whole west.

All we are doing over there is prolonging the inevitable. All of us are going to see Israel get nuked, or use a nuke on someone else. Within 20 years, we'll most definitely see it. That's why we need to start tightening the reigns on Israel, so they cant run behind Morris's and score more touchdowns. Doesnt this pre-ceasefire activity prove me right? Israel is like a 15 yr old bratty kid that runs his parent's house, while his mom and dad sit there and shake their heads and never reprimand him for anything he does. That is exactly how Israel acts.

- Why couldn't we stop Israel yesterday and hold them at current positions? What was their argument against that??? "We need to push further, even though its a cease-fire coming up, we need to hurry up and occupy the whole natioon so the withdrawl takes 6 months."

- Why do we need 15,000 UN troops to point which way is Israel so the tanks can get out of Lebanon?

- Why is that an Israeli stipulation that is being given to them, when they pay zero heed for the UN?

- Why did the US govt assure Israel that even though a UN investigation is going to be conducted over the issue of the Shaaba Farms, that Israel does not need to leave that area, even if the investigation PROVES it belongs to lebanon?

Now, somebody make sense of that, especially the last one, and get back to me on it.
