Re: 12-0
ham,
That record would be 7-5 or 8-4, only if Ants learns those 3 plays and if Galen lends some more dough to a few key recruits.
C'mon now, think a little harder...
I'll give you a hint:
WE ARE..........PENN S.....errrr, I mean---WE ARE...SHUT OUT!!!

Re: 12-0
HAM,
If Pitt is SHUT OUT against both Louisville AND WVU as you say, I will never post on this board again.
12-0...Let JoKEpa go to his grave with that.

I love these threads about Pitt beating PSU 12-0. It gives us all an opportunity to look at the record during the Paterno era. I'm sure he'll go to his grave with regret.
PSU winning streaks versus Pitt, (Paterno era):
10 game ('66 thru '75)
7 game ('89 thru '00)
Pitt winnings streaks vs PSU (Paterno era): Two seperate 2 game streaks.
Last season where Pitt had less than 4 losses:
1989 (8-3-1)...and 1983 (8-3-1)
Last season where Pitt finished in the AP Top 15:
1982
Last season where Pitt won 10 games:
1981 (happens to be the same year PSU knocked off #1 Pitt, 48-14)
Since 1981, number of seasons PSU won 10+ games:
Ten
1981
1982
1985
1986
1991
1993
1994
1996
1999
2005
Really sad that that single greatest sPitt football moment in the last 20 years was beating PSU 12-0, but what can you say about a football program that has to move it's game times because of Jack Wilson bobble head night???

Re: 12-0
frosty...You forgot a few stats:
PSU's record since 1999=barely .500
...and since you're so into ancient history and compiling Pitt stats, the MOST IMPORTANT STAT OF ALL...
NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Pitt NINE (9)
PSU TWO (2)
Thus, 12-0 isn't the single greatest moment in Pitt football, but it eloquently captures the most recent result that occurred when Pitt played PSU.
Thanks again for all your stats, though...See ya!

Re: 12-0
Great post Frosty!!!
Football has changed a ton since the 50's. Those old national titles... ok, Pitt has them, but most people don't give a hoot. Hold on to that.
We can talk about all the years since 2000. Sure they haven't been good. How the last Pitt teams with less than 4 losses? 15+ years!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, back to me not caring about Pitt football. The little sisters try to get things started. I'm more worried about playing two of the top 3 teams in the nation on the road (according to most people they are top 3 teams). I'm hoping for a regular season of 10-2 this year. If better, great. If worse, I hope it is only 1 game worse. **Regular season for that record. There is lots of youth on this team and tough road games. This should be the season to set up a major run for next year.
