Week One:

Penn Cambria at Johnstown
Holsberger and his gang capitalize on Jtown's sloppy early season play and pull out a mild upset, making it two straight years with victories over the Trojans. PENN CAMBRIA.

Cambria Heights at Richland.
Richland's aerial attack proves to be too much for the Highlander secondary, with Pecora putting up big numbers despite a suprisingly resilient CH squad. RICHLAND.

Central at Bishop Carroll.
Game of polar opposites: for BC the good continutes, for Central the subpar play is again a problem. Sponsky's boys rebound big after a bit of a scare vs. CH in last week's scrimmage. BISHOP CARROLL.

Central Cambria at Somerset.
After a debacle last week vs. McCort, the Devils return to their normal, better selves and runaway with this one before the stumbling Eagles know what even happened. CENTRAL CAMBRIA.

Forest Hills at Westmont.
Although not surrounded by as much team talent as last year, Rearick has know problems putting on an aerial show. Westmont's hopes of running with FH graduated last year as did most of their team speed as well. FOREST HILLS.

GAME OF THE WEEK.

Bedford at Bishop McCort.
The Osbourne street gang sure looked impressive last week after a disappointing performance the previous week. Bedford and their new transfers receive a nice welcome to their 2006 schedule. McCort's star power (Cruz, Barbin, Lewis, Jones) surrounds inexperienced QB DeFrances with enough support to win (think Texas) as they win a tough game in their Home Opener at the Point. BISHOP McCORT.

BIB, I agree with you on that one. It is too bad Central played two teams they could beat in their scrimmages (would have been nice for them if they had them in the reg season). I'm not saying it will happen either, but I think the game will be close with Runk being a big factor for the Dragons.

Primetime...I love the phrase "star power" when referring to the Crimson Crushers talented quartet. I’d throw Sidel the the most underrated player on the Crusher squad...Little Varga. That kid has a ton of heart and although small in stature, he will likely play a huge role for BM this season.

Predictions to come…

Opie is right Matt Varga is tough & should be a factor later in season.
If you remember he tore knee(ACL I believe) in D6 hoops championship game...BM had a double digit lead when he went down & I think they lost by 10, or so! But I digress, although making amazing progress he has not 'practiced' as yet & apppears to be a few weeks away.

Prediction of the week PC @ Jtwn....I would not be surprised if it is close but Panthers get W!

And of course, I have to take BM over Bedford, esp. after viewing Crushers performance @ CC last week.
I have to say thank you to me ..." for not being stupid enough to go to Penn State."

I forgot about that injury to Matt. That's a shame, I really enjoyed watching him play hoops and football last season. I am dissappointed he won't be dressed for the week 2 battle in Sidman. He is an enjoyable player to watch as he plays with a lot of intensity.

Some of you guys make me laugh CC does good in a scrimmage their going to be good watch out for CC the next week killed by BM. BC always good year after year has a good scrimmage vs FH who many say will win lhac. The next week at CH with three starters out BC sucks centrals going to upset. COME ON we are talking about a scrimmage a well organized practice vs another team a scrimmage means nothing its not a game its a well organized practice were talking about a scrimmage. (iverson speech) BC will win by 3 TDS.

PC 28 JTOWN 20
RICH 24 CH 20
BM 38 BED 21
CC 35 SOM 6
FH 42 WH 14
CEN 34 BC 28

I agree with Central over BC for the upset. Central scored 27 points against Carroll last year more than any other team Carroll faced. Too bad Central gave up 47. But this year with most of BC's offense from last year gone, look for the Dragons to step up and pull this one out.
