Red Devils at Eagles (Natural Grass)
After a disappointing 05’ season where the Devils went 2-7 after being ahead or tied at the half in 8 of the 9 games, the Devils look to bounce back in 06’. Although the Devils are young, when you sprinkle in a few veterans here and there, they have the ingredients to win games. As for the Eagles, they had an equally disappointing 05’ season finishing 0-9. Coach Costea lost his workhorse running-back to graduation but with 50 players being led by Junior QB, Jordan Kauffman look for the Eagles to take flight…in week two vs. the Bedford Bison. The Devils' fathers were mudders and their mothers were mudders. Look for the Devils to win in a turnover filled quagmire.

Panthers at Trojans (Turf)
Look for the Panthers international track star, Holsberger and wise old owl Ernie Fetzer to start off 1-0 as the Trojans, minus Coach Brian Wright, start to that downward spiral I like to call “Lack-O-Rod”. Look for the undisciplined Flood City team to stay close on athletic ability alone but for the Panthers running game and physical defense to take over in the third quarter. Ernie for President!
Panthers by 13
Highlanders at Rams (Turf)
Rams on the new turf! The upstart Highlanders will no doubt run Shaffer right, Shaffer left, Shaffer up the middle all night long. Hey the kid averaged 4 yards per carry as a sophomore. I know that coach Wiewiora has coveted the CH job for quite some time and now that he has his shot he will not be outworked. If he sticks to the running game, which keeps Richland’s offense on the sidelines, (hint hint), he will have a chance to win. Look for the Rams and Marco-Polo to run the hide and seek spread offense to perfection and the Rams to go 1-0.

Bison at Saints South (Natural Grass)
This one will be over when the Ref blows his whistle to start the game! Swaimy, if you are banking on being a “defensive team” you might want to try to sell that after giving up 50 tomorrow night? The most exciting thing for the Bison will be the ride home as they get annihilated by McCort. This season will be Swaimy’s swan song…Or would that be his Swaimy Song?
McCort by 6…touchdowns!
Dragons at Saints North (Turf)
BC is going to be down this year…Yea right. They are loaded for bear and look for them to open this season, on their new home field, with a bang! Look for Shrift, Crook and the “Three Quarter Ton” line to prevail over the upstart Dragons. Central returns Stiffey, Dick, Runk and Knisely on an offense that scored 20 touchdowns in 05’. Oh one other thing, BC has another running back, Brendon Julock, who is a freshman. IF, he listens to Coach Craig he might score 100 touchdowns in High School.

GAME OF THE WEEK
Rangers at Hilltoppers (Natural Grass 1:00pm Saturday)
With new head coach Darren “H3” McLaurin, Willy Aurandt, Sheehan, the one and only Joe Bulas (he played at Westmont when they were really good in the early to mid 80’s) and the boys putting in OT in Westmont this off season look for a strong 06’ for the Hilltoppers. Add the fact that the Rangers always start off slowly and the Hilltoppers, under that new regime, may keep Bailey from winning his 269th game at the helm of the Rangers. This will be the third time these two have matched up in the last 11 games including a 19-14 FH win in last season’s playoffs, so they are familiar with each other. I think that this will benefit the Hilltoppers. Since FH will postpone the game until they can throw, oh that was last season never mind. Look for Saturday’s dry weather to allow WH to get the ball to the athletic Nick Khuri at Split end and the FH air show to fling them every direction. This should be a great game!

No way is McCort blowing out Bedford by that much...especially in a hurricane.
And I highly doubt Westmont is going to be physical enough to hang with FH!
I agree with you Guru...your Devils will be better this year than they where in 05....but they are a ways from a serious contender for the conference title. Remember...you have to be able to beat FH to do that...or not have them on the schedule like BC did last year.

And the last thing I must tell you...NEVER QUIT!

Rangers by at least 2 tds....Hilltoppers still a couple yrs away & not a good opener for sophmore starters!
I have to say thank you to me ..." for not being stupid enough to go to Penn State."

With all the rain in the forecast anything could happen, but I agree I dont think McCort will beat Bedford by 6 touchdowns. If the rain comes, and theres no postponed game, I think McCort still wins but in a closer game something like 16-8. Good Luck to all teams though, it sure will be fun playing in all the rain and mud!
