Pitt has ZERO CHANCE vs. MSU....
Why in the world would PITT have scheduled a mighty Big 10 opponent so early in the season?
They have no shot to beat a Big 10 opponent (Michigan State) Saturday!
MSU plays in the best conference in the nation and Pitt plays in the Big Easy or Big Least, or whatever it's called. That alone has to be worth 3 TDs for MSU!
Also, Pitt never gets any fans at their games. The lack of fan support is worth another 2TDs for MSU! After all, shouldn't we use that scholarly Penn State logic here: More Fans=More Wins, right?
Oh yeah, and the fact that the Pirates' Neil Walker bobblehead night forced Pitt to change the game to a noon game has to be worth another 10 points for MSU, huh???
I think that Pitt should just cancel the game and return the ticket money to all 25,000 fans (20,000 who will be from MSU) who have already bought tix. Just cancel the game now and forfeit to The Fartin' Spartans.
By my calculations using the aforementioned Penn State logic:
MSU 52
Pitt 7
Anyone want my 4 tix for the game Saturday? THEY'RE FREE!

Re: Pitt has ZERO CHANCE vs. MSU....
I think it's a smart move on Pitt's part to schedule Michigan State early. That way, they avoid the normal criticism of them not having a hard schedule(at least until they meet up with WV and Louisville). That, and it may be a good test for them.
Their first game, they dominated a mediocre Virginia team, and last week pretty much dominated a lower conference team. And I don't care if they play in the "Big Easy", you still cant deny the way the team is playing.
Tyler Palko looks composed and back to sophomore form, and I think facing a decent team like Michigan State will really give him a chance to show that he is back.
The Pitt wide recieving corps. has been playing awesome, especially Derek Kinder. Have you seen some of the catches they've been making?
The defense will be ready. Pitts one-two punch at linebacker, H.B. Blades and Clint Session, will contine to dominate their opponents running game, and prevent any big plays from happening. H.B. Blades already has 27 tackles through 2 games! As for pass defense, the pre-season All-american cornerback Darelle Revis ahs been earning that title so far through the two games.
The only piece of the puzzle missing is LaRod. Hopefully he's back soon. With LaRod in the backfield, Tyler Palko is that much betetr, and that could be scary. I think it will be alot closer than you think, WT.
Well, I'll let this mishap slide, I guess you need to vent after watching your team get destroyed..

Obviously you don't know WPIAL Titan or read any of his posts! That post was tongue-in-cheek.

Pitt will need to play more like they did versus Virginia than they did versus Cincy.
Pitt will have to play turnover free football to beat Michigan State.
2 or more Pitt turnovers: MSU 34 Pitt 17
1 or less Pitt turnovers: Pitt 27 MSU 24

Re: Pitt has ZERO CHANCE vs. MSU....
Pitt definitely had some trouble closing out Cincy on Friday night. You can't fumble a punt when you are totally demoralizing a team and you can't fumble when you are running out the clock at the end of the game. Like the Steelers, Pitt has the tendancy to not close teams out and let them back into it. These things should never happen and when you have a lead like Pitt had your main concern should be protection of the football. They call it nail in the coffin for a reason.
Pitt fans do have to feel good though, seeing the way the team has played this year so far. There is alot more intensity and the overall team speed has improved greatly. The defense is outstanding thus far and the passing game has big play written all over it. The rushing yards aren't there yet, but its good to see they have 30+ carries a game and have not become one dimensional.

Re: Pitt has ZERO CHANCE vs. MSU....
This is a big game & there is reason to fear MSU (for heaven's sake they beat the Irish last year & we just saw what ND did to UPS, basically with the same team that MSU upset) If I'm not mistaken, the qb has started 3 years now & has a lot of big play capability!
I think it a wise move by DW resting Larod last wk.! Just guessing, but if he 'only' had sprained ankle & it was a 'bigger' game; I think he would have tested it! I believe he is an integral part of that offense & a much needed weapon for Pitt to be balanced offensively.
Also concur with you gentlemen that, as always, turnovers will be key!
I'm not going to knock Reavis for one miscue....I loved his return potential/ability as a Freshman; he will be okay back there & can break a game for you (would be awesome to see a return from he or Larod on k/os this week).
I know TP gets a lot of ink, pro & con, but a senior qb who can lead, run & throw & win big games is invaluable...time for him to be a bit more consistent, cut down on miscues & put this team on his back, so to speak, & grab another big W!!

Re: Pitt has ZERO CHANCE vs. MSU....
Did anyone else catch the sideline converstion Wannyspladt had with a couple on his staff and his players today? It went something like this...
"See boys we're faster than ever, I told you it would make us better. I mean we actually had a lead on a BIG 10 school for awhile...10-0 ain't that great?...A team any slower than us would not have been able to stay within 2 TD's!!! of a BIG 10 school! I'm proud!...We are plenty FAST enough to beat the Citydale, Plenty fast to win one next week! I know it!"

Re: Pitt has ZERO CHANCE vs. MSU....
Did not see 1st half (had a game) but heard they under-utilized LaRod!
2nd half....Pitt got their arses kicked...esp d-line!
MSU qb Stanton = tough!
Pitt needs to suck it up & maintain focus.... can still win 8, I believe; but that will take improvement in several areas!

Didn't get to see the game since it started at noon. Heard the summary though and it sounded like the FH-Bedford game I saw last night. Close at the half, but the better team pulled away in the second half.
