How about, AL Frank Thomas or Justin Morneau and NL Carlos Beltran
I really think the NL is wide open for who wins. The AL will prob go to Jeter because he is a Yankee.

I do think Jeter will win....the sentimental favorite often does. However, if you are going with the guy who is the most valuable to his team, I would vote with Johan Santana of the Twins. A lot of people won't consider a pitcher because he's not an every day player. Consider that Santana started the season 0-3 and is now 18-5. He's 9-0 since the all star break. The Twins would not even be close to the playoffs without him. I don't think you can say the same about the Yankees and Jeter or Ortiz and the Red Sox.
In the NL I give a slight edge to Howard over Pujols. The Phillies are in the hunt for a playoff spot even though they were sellers at the trading deadline. Howard has kept them in the race. Pujols numbers are considerable and the Cardinals will be in the playoffs. If Pujols doesn't miss any time due to his injury, I may have gone the other way.

i have pujols for the nl mvp for some of the reasons you brought up... first of all, if pujols wasn't injured, he had close to as many homeruns as howard does now... the cardinals are less than .500 without pujols in the lineup... pujols, with the injury, still is having one of his best seasons ever... and most important, this isn't the award for the best player, this is for the most valuble and without him, this team isnt near the playoffs now... besides its more common for the mvp to come from a playoff team, and pujols's cardinals will win the nl central, while howard's phillies wont make the playoffs...
in the al mvp if the red sox wouldnt of collapsed late, i would of gave it to ortiz, but i think either derek jeter or even jermaine dye will get it, if the white sox make the playoffs....

David Ortiz hit 50 homeruns this season and won't win an MVP. That's a shame, but when you're not playing for anything at the end of the season, writers notice that. So, Jeter will win it, even though, Ortiz probably deserves it more.
Ryan Howard will win it in the National League slightly over Pujols. A Mets player would've probably won it, but Wright and Beltran will be taking votes away from each other, and Reyes will probably even take a few.
