Good call, TAE. It's all on Morelli's shoulders. He better not choke. Iowa isn't that great just like the other big 10 teams besides Ohio State and Michigan. PSU might gain a little credibility with a win this week.

Re: Morelli coming around!!!
I think Manningham being out is huge & I actually give UPS a chance for a huge win here....it will come down to how Barovelli, errr I mean Moronelli carries out Professor Wagstaff's, errrr Coach Paterno's directives during crunch time!
Moronelli comes thru in clutch = UPS victory
Moronelli throws a couple wounded ducks ala Ohio St. = another Mich. win
Have Nitwits ever beaten Mich.?

Re: Morelli coming around!!!
Even in the ND game, that defense cant really be blamed for that loss. The offense puts them in terrible positions. Its unrealistic to give a team the ball on your 20 and expect the defense to keep points off the board every time a team gets the ball. We all know that the defense will show up Saturday and be prepared. Williams has to show up, Norwood has to be as consistent as last year and early this season, and Hunt needs to run as hard as he has in the past few weeks. Levi Brown is back, and that means that buffoon playing in his place will be on the bench where he belongs. I actually thought PSU had a huge chance to beat Michigan WITH Manningham, but now that chance is even bigger.
1. 109,000 PSU fans will be screaming the whole game.
2. UM's best threat is not playing.
3. PSU's defense will be prepared and will show up.
4. 11 straight home wins.
5. Revenge factor from the screwjob last season (you do not consult w/ coaches as to when they called a timeout)
and finally...
6. The historical FACT that UM falls apart.
Okay, what about Michigan?
1. Chad Henne has multiple targets, including Breaston and Arrington, who are both very, very good.
2. Henne is playing better than he ever has.
3. Michael Hart is one of the best backs in the country.
4. Michigan replaced both coordinators and the team has picked up the new schematics faster than any team I have seen, period.
5. UM's defensive coordinator has completely turned that defense from a laid-back mentality into a ferocious, motivated one.
And finally...
6. Michigan is achieving the player-potential they should have reached EVERY year, being at how good the recruits are that they get each season.
How can PSU beat Michigan?
1. Spread the ball around the field and keep UM's defense from being able to take Hunt out of the game.
2. Catch the football when Moronelli actually gets it to you.
3. Catch the football when it comes to you.
4. Catch the ball in key situations.
5. Stay calm and throw the ball to the receivers, calmly, instead of trying to throw it so hard it actuallly knocks people unconcious.
6. Keep the offense on the field so the defense has a chance to rest. The Penn State defense will win this game if the offense is COMPETENT enough to let them do it.
There is not 1 team in the country this year that seems unstoppable. Every team can be beaten, and has weaknesses, more-so this year in any recent ones. UM has a history of falling apart, but they do have new blood in the coaching staff. It'll be interesting.

Re: Morelli coming around!!!
If your talking historical facts you might also want to point out that Michigan has won 7 straight against PSU and that PSU hasn't beaten them since 1996. Michigan has won or split the Big 10 Championship 5 times since 1997. Thats pretty good for a team that usually falls apart. The only reason that it would seem that they fall apart late in seasons is because they have been losing to Ohio St the last game of the year and then struggled in their following bowl game. History may not be on PSU's side for this one.
I don't think that matters though, you can throw history out the window for Saturday. Trends and curses are being broken every year in sports and history won't have an impact on this game, unless you count the revenge factor, which will be in PSU's favor. If PSU wins, it won't be because Michigan fell apart, but because PSU went out and won it on a emotional night.

As far as the PSU 11 game home winning streak is concerned, former Pirate broadcaster Bob Prince used to say, "The more you win, the closer you come to losing".

Re: Morelli coming around!!!
For what it's worth. From today's Tribune Review: In the Big Ten, Penn State ranks 10th in Red-zone defense, and dead last at 11th in Red-zone offense.

untill Morelli can prove he can win a big game......you gotta go with the Wolverines....i mean Posluszny is clearly not half the linebacker he was last year so the defense is a little shaky....Mike Hart is a good runner...Henne also proved he can go into an opposing stadium and win a big game(Notre Dame)
Michigan 31-13
