No doubt that John Kerry put his foot in his mouth, even though he didn't mean it the way it came out. Here is what I don't get about the evil "mainsteam media". Kerry says something stupid and it's on every major network. Bush says something stupid on practically a daily basis and we rarerly hear about them.
Holy minimization/rationalization! The main stream media & leftist in the Dem. party hate the President.....they lie in wait & focus on any negative (real or conjured)...remember CBS & the forged documents??? The NY post will not even recognize or review Bill O Reilly's #1 best selling book; they've reviewed every top seller for decades...think their is an agenda here???? And the media picks on Kerry??? Please.
But the bigger sin is feeding into Benedict Kerry's efforts to explain away his totally inappropriate comments. And I'll tell you another aspect of his ridiculous attempt at humor which no one picked up on, is in the beginning of the quote when he says:
"You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. " ???? WHAT, 'you know education'? No John we've never met or encountered education!! 'Make an effort to be smart'???? Well, John that is a novel idea, we all thought we'd encourage our children to slack off & make an effort to be stupid!!
I don't even wish to bring up the whole issue of the Science of Intelligence, Intelligence Testing & researchers findings on genetic predisposition; because he surely had no clue in this area & did not think "intelligenty" when making these remarks.
And being honest, I can not even respond to his ongoing slaps @ our brave men in the armed forces. I don't friggin' care if it was a botched attempt @ humor...I don't think it friggin funny & any reference to our troops should be one of dignity & honor! Could you imagine this clown as our Commander -In -Chief???
I have to agree with LionPride:

Re: Can the GOP hold onto Congress?
So how does John Kerry speaking out against war crimes equate with being against the troops? It comes down to this...either you believe Kerry when he said he botched the joke or you believe he was belittling the troops.
If you don't believe his explanation then I would guess that you believe George Allen is a racist because he used a racial slur on a democrat. He claimed he didn't know what "macaca" meant. Do you believe his explanation?
I suppose when this is the only hand you have to play before the election, you make the most of it. Perhaps Bush was right when he so brilliantly said "One has a stronger hand when there's more people playing your same cards." He must be a real terror in a poker game.
By the way, Al Gore NEVER said he invented the internet. It's just more of that ridiculous propaganda. (If you tell a lie often enough, people will begin to believe it) http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.asp
I just know that I'm looking forward to Tuesday when I cast my votes for Bob Casey and John Murtha.

Re: Can the GOP hold onto Congress?
Once again OAR with typical democrat bluster of complicating the obvious!
Kerry is a moron...just ask Don Imus who I believe is a staunch liberal!
Ah I believe the war crimes Kerry allegedly described were committed by US Troops. He really saw a lot of actions in his 15 minutes of "infamy" in Vietnam personally gunning down kids and throwing a fellow soldier overboard just to save him and get a chest full of metals! Oh I forgot about the paper cut he got the purple heart for!
OAR do you really think that veterans actually think Kerry was pro-US military in his 1970 testimony?
Every veteran I know of despises him as much as Jane Fonda for what he said in that testimony! My father , uncles, grandfather, and father in law who was a marine and at Khe-Sahn during the Tet offensive despise John Kerry for what he did. He did it for selfish publicity and that was it.
A vote for Murtha... another traitor and Casey a pure chucklehead is a vote for the terrorists.
One note about Tuesday's election if the Democrats take control of Congress see who celebrates more the democrats or the terrorists!
We will see if the Clintons news networks show Al Qaeda terrorists shooting their AK's in the air in jubilation with the pinkos back in control of Congress. God help with Nancy tax and spend Pelosi as 3rd in line to the presidency! That's almost as bad as Hitlary in the WH.

Another scary thought.... Hitlary as president and Bill as Vice President with Pelosi still speaker and Chuck Schumer as Senate majority leader! The four horsmen of the Apolocalypse! With Armageddon to follow!

Re: Can the GOP hold onto Congress?
It's amazing how you can know someone's motives with such certitude. Is Kerry un-patriotic for pointing out war crimes? Of course the military didn't like what he did. Nobody likes their dirty laundry aired in public. You may disagree with the way he went about exposing the war crimes, but that does not make him anti-military. When things are going wrong, isn't it better to try to right them rather than sweep them under the rug?
One tactic the republicans have used well for years is to incite fear into the voting public. "A vote for the democrats is a vote for the terrorists!" More lies and propaganda put out by a party that has a disastrous record for the last 6 years. I guess we should just "stay the course." Oh wait, Bush says he's never been about stay the course even though he and his admininstration have used the phrase hundreds of times. More lies.
You call Nancy Pelosi "tax and spend"? Have you noticed what the federal deficit has done over the last 6 years under republican control? But according to Dick Cheney, it's ok to spend as much as you want because "Reagan proved that deficits don't matter." So you need not worry about the tax and spend democrats.
As the saying goes, if you want to keep getting what you are getting, keep doing what you are doing.

Sweep them under the rug!!!!!!!! You have no idea how insulting that is; I'll show you some 'sweeping under the rug'
Everything Kerry has done since 1970 has been self serving!!!!
Please read of this conspiracy & note the highlighted:
Now, a lawsuit filed in Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas will test the very foundation of Kerry’s anti-war persona for the first time. It isn’t dubious medals or Kerry’s disputed service record in Vietnam that is being called into question. This time Kerry may finally be forced to answer for the events that launched his public career, one that made him an anti-war hero for many American liberals and a turncoat for millions of Vietnam veterans.
It had it roots in 2004 with the documentary Stolen Honor: Wounds that Never Heal. Many may recall the film, although it is probably best known for not being seen, suppressed after Sinclair Broadcasting Company courageously announced it was going to air the documentary in its entirety. Thanks to Kerry and his liberal colleagues in the Senate and their enablers in the mainstream media, Sinclair was browbeaten into withdrawing the film, its broadcast license threatened by a Kerry campaign manager in 2004. The film’s producer, Carlton Sherwood, a Pulitzer Prize and Peabody Award-winning investigative reporter, interviewed former POWs for the documentary.
Colonel George Day was among those whom Sherwood, a decorated Marine combat veteran himself, asked to participate in Stolen Honor. Col Day was a POW for nearly six years, held in North Vietnam prison camps, including the notorious Hanoi Hilton, a place of unimaginable horrors — torture, beatings, starvation and mind-numbing isolation. When Kerry branded us "war criminals," he handed our captors all the justification they needed to carry out their threats to execute us. Thanks to Kerry, Jane Fonda and their comrades in the anti-war movement, our captivity was prolonged by years. The communists in Hanoi and Moscow couldn’t have had a better press agent to spread their anti-American propaganda.
To guarantee Stolen Honor would never be seen by anyone — not even theatre-goers — the producer was slapped with a libel and defamation lawsuit.
That lawsuit was filed by a long-time anti-war disciple of the Massachusetts Senator. He was one of Kerry's key war crimes "witnesses," one of several on whom Kerry claims he based his Senate testimony.
The lawsuit put a unique spin on the definition of defamation, claiming that Stolen Honor had damaged the public reputations of himself, Kerry and others by simply quoting their own words and criticisms of America during the Vietnam war!
The POWs and the wives of POWs who participated in Stolen Honor refused to abandon the facts conveyed in the film. For some of us, it was the first time since our release by the Communists in 1973 that we were able to have our voices publicly heard, to tell our stories about the consequences of Kerry’s treachery. In 2005, we formed a nonprofit organization, the Vietnam Veterans Legacy Foundation (VVLF), to gather records, documents and other materials to form a fact-based, educational repository for students and scholars of Vietnam history and to tell the true story of the American soldiers in Vietnam. The VVLF’s mission is "to set the record straight, factually, about Vietnam and those who fought there."
For our efforts, we were promptly sued by two long-time anti-war Kerry followers and VVAW members. It was clear that Kerry not only wanted to punish us for Stolen Honor; he intended to use surrogates to sue us into permanent silence and financial ruin.
Forced to spend huge sums to defend ourselves from these frivolous lawsuits, we have filed a countersuit against these Kerry surrogates and intend to reveal the truth about the lawsuits and their sponsors. We believe that we can prove that the purpose of nearly two years of litigation was to protect John Kerry, to drain us financially and spiritually, and to prevent us from setting the record straight.

On a much more frivolous matter:
By the way, Al Gore NEVER said he invented the internet. It's just more of that ridiculous propaganda.
on CNN's Late Edition program on 9 March 1999. When asked to describe what distinguished him from his challenger for the Democratic presidential nomination, Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey, Gore replied:
"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet."
Now you or any liberal spinster tell me how repeating that is equivalent to: (If you tell a lie often enough, people will begin to believe it)!
I guess you'd argue (in Clintonesque fashion) that creating is not the same as inventing; or should we bring the meaning of 'is' into debate???
I CREATED THE INTERNET!...... nothing ambiguous there ...self-serving lie, yes .....ridiculous propaganda....no, just quoting the idiot!!!

Freedom of speech to liberals is only a one way street! Watch out for a "fairness in broadcasting" law is the Dem's control Congress to muzzle talk radio!
