Tyrone over Ridge

Post by Gunner18 »

Wow, last week Ridge was all over the boards to gloat about their "big" win this week there's not so much as even a mention of a score. What gives, only sing when your winning?

I didn't see the gloating...I saw the crying and excuses by Bedford...I haven't seen much of that on here either this week....

Always looking for trouble, Gunner.

Gloating that comes from being incited doesn't count. That's simply a defensive reaction For gloating to really count, it has to come directly from the gloater. It has to be self-motiivated.

What can anybody say? Ridge ran into a buzzsaw. No excuses. In addition, I think a lot of fans, parents, and players are sad that the season's suddenly over and the seniors, except for a few, will never play organized football again. You're never ready for that. All things must end, but when it's after over 10 years of elementary, junior high, jv, and varsity football competition during which you grew up and learned what you were made of and who among your teammates you could depend upon, it's almost like mourning a death. I'm sure anyone on BC who loved playing football knows what I'm talking about. It's time for everybody to take the high road.

I, for one, know. And you're right. It's a weird situation, but you'll move on because the next sporting season is forthcoming. It's after the spring sports when the reality really sets in that you'll never step foot on a field in that same intensity of a competitive mannor. Unless, of course, you go to college and play. But the bond there can't be comparable to highschool athletics, you grow up with the kids you play with in highschool. 'nuff said..

Agreed. They aren't even close for the exact reason you stated. I lose a lot of sleep thinking about high school football, but college ball rarely crosses my mind.
In high school, you might be playing on the same field your father did. Depending on the school, you might know most of the people in the stands. You probably looked up to the football players for your entire life and now the pride of the program and the school rests on the shoulders of you and the kids you grew up with. Then college throws all that out and brings in people you have never seen in a town that you are unfamiliar with new rivals and new team goals that you really have to force yourself to care about. Maybe I'm the only one that doesn't do it just for love of the game...
It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Totally agree there...you've gotta love playing football to totally dedicate yourself at the college level because there isn't anything around except yourself to motivate you

Sing when you win, cry and blame someone else when you lose.

It is a little different playing the #5 ranked Team in the State (TYRONE) than playing bedford who also got knocked out the first round!!!

The book says play for the tie, and if you lose in OT it's bad luck.
But play for the victory in regulation and lose? You're a bad coach
