PITT Can Beat The Hoopies If....

Post by vman »

.....one of the following happens:

- Doc Brown shows up at practice with a DeLorean complete with the flux capacitor, goes back to 1980, and returns with Hugh Green, Ricky Jackson, Bill Neil, Jerry Boyarsky, Greg Meisner and Tom Flynn (yes, even as a freshman). I have a feeling this team needs a lot more than 1.21 Jiggawatts to get going.

- Steve Slaton and Pat White pull a Joepa, get such a severe case of the fire squirts that they spend the whole game on the can in the trainer's room

- WVU's starting and backup Oline gets busted on a St. John's like stripper rampage through McKees Rocks and ends up at the county slammer.

- WVU turns into Turnoversburgh and coughs it up 4 or 5 times. Pitt would have to be at least +4 in the turnover margin to even be in the game.... at halftime. In other words, there is no possible way Pitt beats WVU. WVU could, however, possibly beat themselves. Actually, no that isn't going to happen either.

- Darrel Strong not being around to tip catchable balls into the other teams' hands should help matters, but if one of the 4 points above doesn't happen, Pitt should lose about 56-17.

Yea Vman eating some crow after the U Conn debacle....I had predicted that T Palko would come through this year & lead this squad. He has done his part & more....after going 20 - 25... is probably again near the top of qb rating/efficiency in the country! But the D is outright awful & their base 4-3 with the lbs 9 yds. off & safetys about 25 yds deep is kinda not working... & if they don't fire Rhoads sooner than later, they are all incompetent idiots! For heaven's sake, UConn had 340 yds rushing & over 500 Total & guess what, the qb who orchestrated most of those yds. is not that good!!!!

I am still for giving DW 3-4 yrs. but how can he (with all his experience on the defensive side) allow the schematic issues to persist....now i know talent & inexperince concerns are evident but try some changes...

I'd put Fields @ safety & play him on the line while locking the 2 corners (their strength anyway), & keep 8 in box all game & blitz from different angles every play....@ least I'd try something!

well said

maybe if Covert and May play some OLine
Fitzgerlad is cathching the passes from Marino
Dorsett is running the ball
Ditka is at TE
Jackson and Green are the DE's
Saragusa is clogging up the middle

maybe we stand a chance if they all decide to play

but otherwise

56-28 WVU takes it

Last time the EEERS were in Pittsburgh i do recall something like a 16-13 victory for the Panthers

also i recall wvu was a top 25 team at the time????

Heinz Field will be filled with wvu fans

if theres gonna be 65,000 people at this game

about 45,000 will be Pitt fans sad to say but there will be some 20,000 mountaineers

20,000 Mountaineer fans? What's that, about 157 teeth? Guess some will bring their sister. Some will bring a date. And some will do the sister/date combination.

There was barely 20,000 people at the Pitt/WVU game 2 years ago when Pitt was a top 25 team. The only way 60,000 show up...is if it's 50,000 WVU fans.

Vman I'll give you this...at least you admit when your wrong...and realize some changes need to be made with the Pitt program.

After next year...you'll be calling for Wanny's head too. The worm is starting to turn in Panther Nation.

How bout the Pitt's punt return in the first half! I have to admit I only watched the first half, which was fun, but the game ended like I thought it would.

Why?

Revis's punt return had to have been one of the greatest of all time

on another note 2 years ago wvu was ranked not Pitt and there was 50,000 there on a Tnaksgiving night?not to bad

Why on earth would we get rid of Wannstedt he got us a top 25 recruiting class last season this year hes bringing in the best HS QB ive ever seen. its Paul Rhodes who should have been fired after the ND game 3 years ago Pitt is slowly but surely moving along 5 wins last years 6 this year look for Pitt to have 7-8 next season

The only thing that would have made Reavis' punt return even better is if Kinder's block had laid out Paul Rhodes instead of two unsuspecting Mountaineers. Then maybe we would have a chance versus Louisville next week!
