Re: McCort vs. Tyrone
This is the way its supposed to be. #1 and #2 going at it. It's tough to say. These two teams match up very well. The overrated Tyrone versus the ever present Bishop McCort. I don't believe McCort will dominate the Tyrone line as they did PO's but I also don't think Tyrone will be putting up 46 points like they did against Forest Hills. It should be fun to watch 74 of McCort go against 77 of Tyrone. This is tough one to call.
P.S. Maybe college football should watch high school playoffs to see that the top teams usually end up settling it on the field and stop leaving it up to computers.

It takes me 2 hours to watch 60 minutes.

Whatever McCort's weakness (if they have one), expect Franco to attack it.
I never elaborated a lot about it on here, but FH's defense against the parameter wasn't very good this year. Franco exploited that Friday night.
I expected Tyrone to go after the FH secondary...but conditions prohitited that. I'm not sure Tyrone is as much of a threat throwing the ball as they are running the ball either.
Defensive wise...I was sure wrong about the FH game heading in. I thought FH would be able to handle Tyrone's front...it was certainly the other way around. If FH was the best front McCort has saw this year...expect a lot more from Tyrone that you saw from FH in week 2.
However...the FH receivers got behind Tyrone's secondary a few times. I'd expect Seidel and Vargo to be able to get open a few times as well. If Defrances can hook up with these guys, that would help McCort's cause this weekend.
This should be a fantastic game.

Re: McCort vs. Tyrone
Two hardnosed football teams goin head to head...what else can you expect...neither team seems to have a great advantage...if there is one, its Tyrone's line, but mccort has great LBs on D and some good speed on O to maybe make up the differance...
Am I correct in saying Tyrone beat PO 31-0 in the regular season?
If so, if that is a basis to go off of, this game should be pretty good...

Re: McCort vs. Tyrone
This could be our Ohio v Michigan but we will see. These teams are a lot more alike than those two but this is my break down.
O line D line: Pretty even, Size for Size. Jones and Hoover are the big ones. Other than those two its avergae with McCort being a little bit bigger at center and the other tackle. BOth sets of guards are about the same small, tough kids who really like to get physical. This shud be a great match up in the trenches. Which ever unit wins the battle thats whos team will win this one.
Rbs and Lbs: McCort has the depth at RB with LEwis Barbin and Kubinsky, all three are quick and tough and will run inbetween the tackles but will also bounce it. Tyrone same thing Franco and #21 arent scared of anything, and they have good speed im excited to see them on dry turf. Due to the advantage of having depth i think McCort wins the Running back Battle. Line backers- I do has a bias so i think McCort Lbs are a little better #53 for Tyrone loves to mix it up and loves to clog up holes. However Tyrone did have trouble with the trap the Forest hills was running and i saw the linebackers getting reached by linemen. So we will see.
Wrs and Dbs: This really isnt my thing but both teams are solid. McCort has a lot more speed but Tyrone Wrs stock block failr well and run good patterns.
Qbs: Match up pretty well, both command the field have good vision and are efficient. Defrances has the edge in arm strength. The big issue here is who is better protected. When Tyrone played FH the Tyrone Qbs was only knocked down twice from what i saw, and he had a very clean jersey.
Field position aka kickers: Tyrone can kick short range field goals and PATS pretty well, punting and place kicking arent that strong. McCort has always had good special teams so i see McCort average field position around the 40 45 maybe and Tyrone 25 35 some thing like that.
I look for a great game with alot of hitting. Like i said before the game is won by the oline or dline that controls the line of scrimmage. This is gonna be a slug fest that will go to the wire. I see a lower scoring affair with a chance of an over time not out of the question.

Re: McCort vs. Tyrone
This oughtta be a whale of a game. McCorts' line gets off the ball better than any line I've seen this year. They missed some assignments(not many), but man do they come off the ball. All other position matchups are so close they could be considered a push. Watch for the battle up front to decide this one. It's going to be a good one.
P.S.- For those keeping score on another thread, Tyrone is 7-0 in AA title games under Franco and 8-1 in D-6 title games overall;FYI The Eagles are 35-13-1(32-10 under Franco) in playoff games period.(The tie came in the state title game in 1940 with Shenendoah, when most of the high schools in the state were in the Eastern or Western Conference , the champion of each was decided on Gardner point sysytem and the winners of each met for the mythical state championship)

Re: McCort vs. Tyrone
CrimsonCrush had a very good breakdown of the game. I just have to disagree with the kicking aspect. The Crushers kickoffs were all short against PO and were not close on a 33 yard field goal so to say that Tyrone is giving up an average of 10 yard of field position is a stretch. I also think the scores will both be a little bit higher than that. I find it hard to see either one of these offenses scoring less than 20.
It takes me 2 hours to watch 60 minutes.
