Penn State, National Champs?

Post by The Ancient Enemy »

Believe it or not, a great intellectual master that I know (who wants to remain anonymous) has worked out a scenario in which Penn State can still win the National Title. Its not as hard as you think.

Since PSU is currently 25th in the BCS, and 4th place in the Big Ten, some things do need to happen, but I am confident that Penn State will crowned national champs, like they deserve.

The Lions have 4 losses. All of those losses are to teams in the top 10 of the rankings. Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin.

Here's how it happens:

- Notre Dame loses to USC and also somehow has 4 other games reversed.
- Michigan's wins over 5 teams are declared ineligible. What could really help PSU would be a scandal where UM kept Bo Schembechler alive illegally in an effort to boost morale upon his death the day before the OSU game.
- Ohio State's season gets forfeited because of something Clarett does between now and January.
- Wisconsin does not make enough money, and therefore their place ahead of PSU is vetoed because of TV revenue potential.

There is 4 losses, all covered.

Now, what else needs to happen?

- USC accepts a bid to the Emerald Nuts Bowl BEFORE all the above happens, therefore ruling their BCS chances ineligible.
- Florida and Arkansas battle to extinction.
- No non-BCS teams make enough money, so there goes Boise and whatever other whacko teams ppl think are really good.
- Steve Slaton and Pat White sign contracts for the USFL and Rich Rodriguez declares the season over for the Mountaineers.
- Louisville and Rutgers are declared ineligible because there would be too much red on the field if one of them played in a BCS game, and since BCS games are on national TV, red is often synonimous w/ blood and that's bad for little kids to see on TV.
- Texas will be out b/c they will lose to A&M this weekend. Even w/ 3 losses, a loss to K-State is unacceptable.
- Oklahoma has a black QB and the southern viewers wont tune in to see that. Next.
- Anyone else ahead of Penn State all sign an agreement to let PSU in the title game because they all love Papa Joe so much.

A lot of stuff has to happen. But I am confident we'll see the 2 best teams play a rematch for the national title, Penn State and Temple.

Anything's possible. In 1982 when they won the National Championship, they were slaughtered by Alabama 42-21. Yes, anything can happen.
