Thanksgiving day high school football

Post by footballfan1 »

I just came back from watching my nephew play their annual Turkeyday game. The Penn Ridge Rams defeated the Quakertown Panthers 14-10 on a pretty muddy field. 35 min up the road Phillipsburg NJ was taking on Easton PA in a game being shown by ESPN 2. Quakertown was playing their 77th game vs. Penn Ridge. Quakertowns line led by Rutgers recruit Caleb Ruch, who is my nephew, dominated the line of scrimmage but the off. could only muster up 10 points. Down East these turkey day games are pretty common. Would anything like this be possible or would it be popular here in the west? Easton played this morning and will play again Saturday night in the PIAA playoffs. I no it would never happen but some games of interest could be Ridge vs. Bedford, NBC vs. Central type games. The Bedford game could also be Everett.

How do you fit in a scheduled game in the middle of playoffs?

It would be ok to do this if the teams were eliminated, but if they weren't, the game would have to be cancelled.

no, in the Eastern part of the state, these games are traditions...they are played.....even if the teams are in playoffs....Easton played Phillipsburg (NJ) yesterday, but will be playing Saturday in the playoffs...that's just how it's done....
