How pathetic is this? Dennis Erickson takes the job at lowly Idaho after jumping from team to team since he left Miami. How coincidental that he is a former Canes coach. This guy took the Idaho job under the guise of "build a program" and immediately quit after 1 season to take the job at Arizona State. This is exactly what is wrong with 90% of the programs that are I-A: they have incompetent athletic directors who have zero grasp on how to do things properly. It is not the conference, it is not the players, it usually is not the coaches. You do NOT hire a guy like Dennis Erickson. Then stupid Arizona State thinks this guy is the right fit? Dirk Koetter is a very good football coach. Now, you tell me if something is rotten in the state of Tempe whenever the head football coach actually buys out his own contract so he can leave the college and work elsewhere. Do we see a pattern here yet? An idiot AD hired an idiot head coach. This is why I rag on the Pac-10 so much, because it completely sucks, and there is 1 program who has a clue in this world, and 9 who bumble through their day, driving down the highway, looking around, knowing something isnt right, and hoping they aren't lost. As much as I would like Miami to get Mike Stoops, he is almost brainless to take that job, whenever a BCS matchup and probable national title is so easily achieved in the Pac-10. It is right there for the taking. He needs to stay at Arizona awhile. He is doing an excellent job so far.

"It was kind of weird with Erickson talking and telling us he thinks he can win a national championship at Arizona State. It makes us realize the doubt he had in us," Bird said. "I guess he has to do what he has to do. We just didn't expect it, but it's certainly something we can get over.

"Hopefully they can get a guy in here that genuinely cares about us and wants to build a program. The hardest thing is to find a guy that isn't going to use us and not use the school as a stepping stone."
