A Change in Eastern Hoops Power Ratings ....

Power Ratings Change....

I was just informed tonight that there is a change in District #3 power ratings this year. The change likely affects (ONLY) the lower two classes. Here's what's up:

Every team .500 or better qualifies for the playoffs (no change there), but instead of teams .500 or better automatically being rated ahead of those below .500, the power rating now dictates order. (Remember, teams below .500 are used to fill out a 16-team bracket, which especially becomes necessary in the lower two classes.)

For example, from last week's girls' Class (A) list, Scotland (2-4 PIAA record, 4.33 power rating) and Lebanon Catholic (3-10, 3.77) are ranked ahead of Berks Christian (4-4, 3.63). In previous years, Berks would be seeded higher than Scotland and Lebanon Catholic because it was .500 or better.

FYI: Last day games count for power ratings is Feb. 9. However, league playoff games played on or before Feb. 9 DO NOT count towards power ratings.
