Rough Two Days for Top Ranked W.P.I.A.L. Girls Hoop Teams....
It was a rough start to the new week for three of the W.P.I.A.L.'s top ranked girls basketball teams. Oakland Catholic, Beaver and Monessen were all knocked off in just over a 24-hour span.
On Sunday, Oakland Catholic was knocked out of the #1 spot in Class (AAAA) when they lost to John F. Kennedy High School out of New York 60-56.
Then on Monday, the top ranked teams in Class (AA) and Class (A) fell in non-section games to teams from higher classifications.
Class (AA) top ranked Beaver lost at home to Class (AAA) Montour 56-52. Then Class (A)'s #1 team Monessen lost at Class (AAAA) Canon-McMillan 45-37.
Class (AAA) top-ranked Hopewell survived the number one jinx by beating up on Ambridge 57-34.
