High School Boys...................

Farrell 65, Bishop McCort 57

Zak Boyd’s 3-pointer with only four seconds left in regulation got the host Crimson Crushers to overtime, but the Steelers converted chances from the line and pulled out the victory on Saturday.

Farrell, which averaged "80" points per game, was held to only 54 through regulation by a strong Bishop McCort defense.

Boyd finished with 11 points as the Crushers were led by Matt Varga’s 12. Kent Malzi and Scott Lewis also had 11-point games for the Crushers.

Donald Jackson’s 20 points led the Steelers and Torlando Hopson added 18.



High School Girls.................................................................

Bishop McCort 73, Farrell 56

Sarah Pastorek’s 19 points led Bishop McCort to a win over Farrell (16-3).

Brittany Genday had 16 points and Julie Morey added 12 for the Crimson Crushers (19-3).

Keveeda Myers scored a game-high 29 points for Farrell, which got 13 points from Chloe Stewart and 10 from Teshia Stubbs.




Cambria Heights 55, Lewistown 44

LEWISTOWN – Amber Dubyak scored 28 points and snared 21 rebounds to lead Cambria Heights past Lewistown.

Jerrica Snedden had 11 points for the Highlanders.




Central 54, Conemaugh Valley 44

MARTINSBURG – Alicia Nevins registered a game-high 23 points for Central (17-5) in a win over Conemaugh Valley (18-4).

Kayla Brandle led Conemaugh Valley with 14 points and nine rebounds and Leah Borow and Taylor Gruss each scored 10 for the Blue Jays.




Beall 56, Bedford 32

FROSTBURG, Md – Kierstin Stevenson and Jenna Delaney each scored 16 points for Beall in a win over Bedford.

Brandy Harris led the Bisons with 10 points.






L.H.A.C. Championships moved to Johnstown ?????????????????????????

The Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference boys and girls championship basketball games on Saturday have been moved to Greater Johnstown High School’s Stofko Gymnasium.

The games originally were to be played at Bishop Carroll.

The girls game will feature Central-Martinsburg against Westmont Hilltop at 6 p.m.

The boys contest will pair Central Cambria (21-2) and undefeated Westmont Hilltop (23-0) in a rematch of Wednesday’s regular-season game won by the Hilltoppers, 69-48.

The WestPAC boys and girls championship games also will be played Saturday at Pitt-Johnstown’s Sports Center. The girls will play at noon and the boys game is at 2 p.m.

The North and South division winners have yet to be officially determined in the WestPAC entering the final week of the regular season.

TAMPA, Fla. – Pitt (19-5, 7-4 Big East) held off South Florida on the road for a victory at the Sun Dome behind Xenia Stewart’s 21 point-performance.
