HIRING A RIVAL:@ Wilson Area High School's success in football has led a fellow league school to grab one of its coaches.
Matt Evancho, the defensive coordinator for Wilson coach Bret Comp, has left the defending P.I.A.A. Class (AA) champions to become Saucon Valley's coach.
The hiring will make for an interesting game in the second week of the season when Wilson visits Saucon Valley in a District #11 Colonial League matchup.
"I think that will be one of the top offensive minds in the (Lehigh) Valley against one of the best defensive minds," Evancho said. "I don't like to talk myself up like that, but that's what's been said. It will be a great game."
Evancho takes over for Dick Bowman, who stepped down after having a 35-21 record in five seasons. In 2004, Saucon Valley went 11-1 and won the District #11 Class (AA) title. Wilson has won the last two District #11 (AA) championships.
