NS vs. TM
Re: NS vs. TM
Ok this going to be a great matchup. You have two teams that love to run the floor. I have seen both of these teams play and they have the capability of all five players of leading the break. Tussey mountain is lacking a LOT in size against North Star. North Star sports six players who are at least 6'3" or up, especially 6'6" center Dave Kavar. Dave is a versitile senior who leads the team in points and rebounds. He is also able to play inside and out better than most guards and post players can play one position. I am really looking forwrd to seing how T.M is going to stop him and their other post players who are very strong in the post. Tussey mountain defiantely has N.S. beat in the guard position who are able to drive to the basket with great accuracy and control. North Star is going to have a dfficult time stopping the penetration into the paint. Another factor is they are playin this game at UPJ which is a college court that is much larger than a normal high school floor. Tussey mountain loves to press but will have a difficult time trying to cover that whole court. It also helps out T.M. because they will be able to stretch out N.S. defense for driving lanes. I am really looking forward to this game and i also look forward to see these two great coaches match up against each other. They are two famous coaches in this area and will do anything to win this game. This game is friday at 8 and i am defiantely going to be there.

Re: NS vs. TM
NorthStars only chance is by handling the heat that TMs defence will put on and their size advantage. TM will negate that advantage with their aggression on the glass.
Bailey had a week to get ready and get a good game plan.
NS Coach is famous? For what, owning the Ship Hotel?

Re: NS vs. TM
Well now that our season is over, I guess it's fair for me to voice my opinion. Having played Tussey twice and North Star in the playoffs, I have a pretty good bearing on each team's strengths and weaknesses.
First off TM will be the best defense that North Star has seen and perhaps will see all season. Playing in the WestPac, the Cougars probably see a LOT of zone, and the man they do see is much different than Tussey's pressure. North Star's ability to handle the ball was not extremely impressive, so here could be a point where Tussey's pressure could be extremely instrumental.
Tussey's agressiveness on the glass may be good, but agression can only get you so far. North Star (though unless I'm 6'4'') has Kavar who is about 6'6'', but other than that I didn't see any 6'3'' players. Zellam and Petrilla play the post LIKE they are 6'3'' but they don't actually stand that tall. Here is where North Star holds a huge edge. Against Ridge, a team with pretty good size, NS managed to control a lot of rebounds, mainly defensively.
I think that Tussey may struggle against NS's zone, should they decide to play it. A zone minimizes penetration and penetration is what Tussey thrives on. Tussey does have a couple outside shooters, but this change-up could pose a problem for the Titans.
That's my input, maybe a little too analytical. But the coaches have all the film and they know this too, Loya and Bailey are both good coaches. With that being said, it should be very interesting at the Sports Center on Friday Night. From what I have seen, I have to pick the Titans to repeat. . . But it will be a close one--probably something to the tune of 64-58.

Re: NS vs. TM
You are right with TM agressiveness but NS has played against some tough teams out of conference especially in their Tournaments where they met Somerset and Forest Hills which they beat both of them. Tussey Mountain played three games that were against AAA teams and lost all three. NS plays in a weak league but they always come ready to play and always find a way to win against every opponent and their coach has more experience than anybody else. He has coached at WVU Seton Hill and a couple other various D2 and D3 colleges and his son is the head coach at the Mount. Tussey Mountain has some great guards who can D up better than anybody else they probaly faced but again it is going to be tough for them to chase NS around that UPJ gym floor. It may not seem different but when you are playing on it, it is much bigger. Tussey will win this game if NS goes zone and TM hits from the outside. NS will win if they can dominate the paint and the boards like they have done so well in the past. I see NS winning a close in a low scoring game maybe 45-42.

Re: NS vs. TM
Bailey-Vs- Boris Karloff~ Hmmm !!!
I'll say: Tusey Mt. by (7) points... Why :?: :?: Because they've got the experience & Coach Bailey, who knows what's~ what
North Star has trouble with handling tight played defenses. Windber exposed them of that last month at N.S'. gym.. After seeing that & knowing what Tussey Mt. has. It will break them down & foul trouble will become a factor...
I sure hope the officiating doesn't become an issue. Let them play & bang around & it should be a great game...
Regardless of who Wins, You both have your work cut out for you in the Interdistricts. The District # 7 {W.P.I.A.L.} is really loaded this year. More than ever... I wish the both of you, a great post season...
Anything after this game, is icing on your cake...

Re: NS vs. TM
You are right about NS and tough defenses but agaisnt Windber at Windber they beat them by 13 but at NS they lost terrible not only because of Windbers defense but on both ends they gaev up alot of points and couldn't get anyhting going on offense even when they had open looks. Tussey Mountain is the most aggressive team i ahev ever seen play and their coach harps defense to them but if NS is smart with the ball then they should be able to cut down on the turnovers. They ten to rush their offense and press breaker and that is what Tussey Mountain is best at. The biggest thing for both team is nerves. Who can stay poised, run their offense, make open layups, play smart defense, and convert at the foul line will win this game. What was said earlier about the officials is right, both teams a re very physhical all over the court. How much of that the official let them get away with will really matter. Tussey Mountain needs to be able to hit open jump shots and not foul on traps. North Star needs to control the boards and be very smart with the ball.
Boris Karloff, who is that. I mean seriously where did you get that name from. You are right coach Bailey has been coaching high school basketball and has been at Tussey Mountain for an eternity. But you guys are completely overlooking Loya, who has experience on all coaching levels even college. Both coaches are going to try everything to win this game and with a week for both teams to prepare you know this going to be a hard fought battle. I look for several changes on defense, presses, and offenses from both coaches. This is goign to be a like two famous generals battling a war. Does anybody know the name of the point guard for Tussey Mountain, his number is 21, he is a really good ball player and i never was able to catch his name i only know his number.
