I played my entire senior year with a screw bulging out of my foot, you see, in november after my junior year i had my heel bone completely replaced (it was born hollow and was like an egg shell, if i would have ever landed on it wrong i could have shattered it and not have been able to walk for several years) but anyway to keep the new heel bone together, they used a metal plate and several screws, well in the summer between my junior and senior seasons i noticed a slight bulge in my foot, and after feeling around and having some x-rays taken, it was determined that becuase of the bone-growth, my heel was actually pushing the screw OUT of my foot, the only thing really keeping it there was my skin. the only solution for it was surgery to have the plate removed (which i still have proudly displayed at my house!) however if i had surgery, then my season would have been down the drain, so i decided to wait until after the season to go under the knife. and let me tell you what, in a sport where foot/ankle care is #1 priority, having a screw sticking out of your heel really makes it tough to play! But i did something special that i shall share with you now.....
I GRABBED A STRAW AND SUCKED IT UP!!!!!

Frk, sorry I wasn't clear with you, after the first surgery my Junior year i spent 3 months on crutches and an additional 3 months in a walking cast, followed by nearly 6 months of physical therapy. The second surgery only required 2 months of crutches and 1 month of walking cast with about 4 months of PT. but your right, im sure yours was a lot worse than mine....
