P.I.A.A. BOYS CLASS (AAA) QUARTERFINALS:

General McLane 73 - Oliver 53

General McLane moved on to the Western finals with a convincing 73-53 victory against Oliver on Friday night. The Lancers jumped out to a 22-8 1st quarter lead and never looked back. Oliver would never get any closer. The inside play of 6'4 forward Shawn Walker was a major difference. Oliver had no answer for the big man. Walker scored 31 points mostly from underneath the basket many coming on great assists by there lightning quick guards Drew Astorino
and Bob Stauffer. Astorino scored 17 including three treys. Oliver was lead by senior Tyler Arnett who fouled out with 20 points and 4 treys. Arnett tried to carry the team upon his shoulders but the rest of the Oliver team had a rough night shooting. General McLane will now play Tuesday night for the right to go to State College against either Susquehanna Township or District #10 rival Grove City. That game was snowed out and will be played on Saturday in Somerset. Oliver finishes there season with a record of 17-13.

P.I.A.A. BOYS CLASS (A) QUARTERFINALS:

Kennedy Catholic 56 - Serra Catholic 50
Kennedy Catholic scored seven of the final eight points to knock off Serra Catholic in the battle of the Eagles Friday night at North Hills High School. Kyle Randall led the way for the GOlden Eagles with a game-high 18 points while Youngstown State recruit Blair Rozenblad added 15 points as Kennedy Catholic moves to 22-5 and a spot in the PIAA Semifinals on Tuesday against either Clairton or DuBois Central Catholic. Serra Catholic's Mark Rozanski, son of head coach Bob Rozanski, led the way with 17 points and became the school's all time leading scorer with 1,411 points. Jon Staso had 13 and Pat Grubbs added 12 points for the Eagles who finish at 24-4.




P.I.A.A. GIRLS CLASS (AAAA) QUARTERFINALS:

Upper St. Clair 48 - Bethel Park 40
In a battle between South Hills rivals with a spot in the (AAAA) Semifinals at stake, the Panthers raced out to a quick opening quarter lead and never looked back as they finally beat Black Hawks in their third try by eight points at North Hills High School. USC held a 14-5 lead over BP after the first quarter and went into the break up by 12 at 25-13. Bethel Park did make it close with a big third quarter, but the one-two punch of Alex Gensler and Christy Gabor led Upper St. Clair to the victory. The two Panthers each scored 15 points each as USC improves to 25-5 and will play the winner of Saturday's Cheltenham/Landisville Hempfield game in the PIAA Semifinals on Tuesday. Bethel Park, paced by 10 points each for Samantha Loadman and Katie Kendall, end their season at 25-5.
