NFL Draft
Re: NFL Draft
Interesting stuff from the above-mentioned site:
First-Round Bust Percentages
QB -- 53 percent
RB -- 49 percent
WR -- 45 percent
DT -- 33 percent
OL -- 31 percent
DE -- 31 percent
CB -- 29 percent
LB -- 16 percent
S -- 11 percent
The glamour positions produce the biggest busts...always felt teams could get rbs & wrs in 2nd & 3rd rounds....and qb's are a crap shoot in 1st round! Good draft philosophy > take the meanest/nastiest defensive player on the board initially.....get the 'skill' players later!

Retro I would seriously flip out if Poz went to the Steelers....but not likely since Lawrence Timmons LB from Florida State looks like a more likely pick....

I believe Brady Quinn's career is now effectively over. I project him to either become the next Tim Couch or Ryan Leaf.

Re: NFL Draft
The Browns today shown why they've been a sorry franchise the past few years. Quinn dropped to 22 and what does Cleveland do with Dallas. They give them their 2nd rounder, who could of been a Trent Edwards or John Beck, and their FIRST-ROUNDER for next year. That's probably gonna be a top-5 pick next year. Bad move on Cleveland's part. Baltimore used the same strategy to pick up Kyle Boller a few years ago and it didn't pan out. Of course though, they made the playoffs and only gave up a 20ish pick. They got a pretty good tackle in Joe Thomas with the 3rd, but they gave up way too much for Quinn. This mistake is gonna sting for a while.

Re: NFL Draft
True dat. And once again my old question comes up:
Which was worse for the New Orleans Saints?
- Mike Ditka
- Hurricane Katrina
This answer we must all find within our own hearts and minds and the heart and mind of the cosmos.
Did anyone else want to vomit at how much they hyped Quinn during that draft? Oh God where will he end up? He's the greatest player in the world. Nevermind the fact that there's 500 other kids worth talking about. I loved when that other analyst told Chicken Little, I mean John Clayton, that he knew of countless teams who thought Quinn was very overrated. But Clayton, like Brent Musberger, drink more Kool-Aid than a 4 year old in a trailer park.
IMO best draft teams so far are St. Louis and San Francisco. Biggest blunder is Miami, not b/c they scoffed at Quinn, but because Ted Ginn sucks. Nothing like drafting a punt returner in the first round.
Told ya Poz was going to Buffalo.

Re: NFL Draft
Yeah Saturday had to be a new show on ESPN called the Brady Quinn show. That was unbelivable. Wait a minute, no it wasn't, I knew that would happen all along, I mean Brady Quinn is the greatest player to put on a uniform, put him in the Hall of Fame right now. I like Buffalo's and Minnesota's drafts as the best drafts.

Re: NFL Draft
I don't think Quinn will have that great or that long of a career, but at this point and from the Browns perspective I think its a good move. Its an aggressive move from a franchise that usually stinks. I can't blame them for trying to improve their team. Like this move, is the one that will set them back. Do we forget Courtney Brown. They were probably split between Thomas, Peterson, and Quinn at the 3 pick and they landed 2 of them. A OT who will be great in the league for years and a possible franchise QB, who your not going to have to pay top 5 money too. If you think about it that first round pick next year will probably be used on a franchise QB anyway, and will cost a ton more, plus you have 2 second rounds this year so why not use one of them to better yourself. No matter what you think about Quinn or how his career will end up, this is a good move at this point.
The Randy Moss trade is the story of the draft though. I think its low cost, high reward situation for the Patriots. They got him for a 4th round pick and he is going to restructure his contract. They have won 3 SuperBowls with less talent at the position, so if he stinks, oh well let him go, but if he returns to old form it could be tough to get past that team.
Kind of indifferent about the Steelers draft. It was boring, but looks solid. Thought Timmons was a good pick and think they got good value for Woodley, who at one time was projected to be a first rounder. Didnt get excitied over the TE and P they took, but thought the later rounds were alright.
