yeah this took penn states greatest strength on the team for next (DB's and LB's) and made linebacker's average without Sales and made the DB's bad by losing their best two players. Free Ride, Free Meals, Free Housing, at least 3 of these players had a future in the NFL and they all pretty much just pissed it down the drain. I mean this is what college football does to these kids. Ever since probably their sophomore year in high school they have been treated boarder line celebrities and they think they can get away with anything they want and the university will stand behind. Its time for the university to set an example and pull all 6 free rides and set an example for th next batch of kids that feel that they can do whatever they want on campus.

Are you expecting something profound? "He's off the team", yeah, maybe Chris Baker. I'm torn between doing the right thing and wanting to see Jimmy Clausen battle a secondary at 100%. I'm leaning towards the latter.

Here we go again! Article in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette Wed May 23 concerning the off-campus fight involving PSU football players. Entitled: Paterno Hopes to Clean Up His Player's Act.
Joe Paterno is punishing his entire team this fall for the incident. His players will be part of the clean-up crew at Beaver Stadium every Sunday after home games this fall. They will also volunteer their services for Habitat for Humanity and Special Olympics.
Paterno went on to say that some players will be subject to suspensions and demotions. (Oh really).
He also said that he is hopeful that Penn State's Office of Judicial Affairs (which helped players out their suspensions in arrowgate and phone-gate) HAS AN OPEN MIND WHEN DECIDING IT'S PUNISHMENT.
(Now get this) "I just hope people don't overreact to it (the fight) because if it were a bunch of other kids and these weren't football players NOBODY WOULD KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. Let's look at this without making it a media event".
How long is Joe Paterno going to pooh-pooh these things? Some people DID get hurt this time. Maybe he'll change his slogan to "Hey. Nobody died".

Can't the NCAA do something if Paterno shrugs this off? I don't know if I necessarily think these kids should be kicked off the team. I honestly think it has to be something very severe to garner that, like a murder or a rape or something else very strange. I really do not think that a fight is grounds for team dismissal. Maybe a 5 game suspension. We don't know the whole story yet.
