PSU hands out punishments
Penn State University officials handed down punishment to several football players that were involved in a fight this spring.
The players have been expelled for the summer semester but will be allowed to practice with the team.
Wow! That will teach them!
I am going to try this form of discipline with my son. It will go something like this.....
"Son, you are grounded for fighting with the boy down the street." "You will not be allowed to do any chores around the house, however, you may still go outside and play with your friends."

I am shocked that any "discipline" happened at all, givcen JOKEpa's recent track record of "disciplining" his team. I'm sure the starters will be in Beaver Stadium bright and early Sunday morning picking up paper following Saturday home games...What a joke.

Are there any hardworking linebackers in the Shaler area that are former garbagemen? We need a few of those to help our heroes clean the stadium.

That's a punishment? Maybe they should take some notes from other college football teams like Texas. They all end up transferring after getting in trouble because Mack Brown makes it a point to punsih them. Come on JoePa.

Re: PSU hands out punishments
Fro today's Post Gazette. Penn State Football: 2 Expelled for summer session. "Two Penn State football players ordered to stand trial for their roles in an off-campus fight were expelled from school for part of the summer BUT will be allowed to take part in preseason practice. Anthony Scirrotto and Chris Baker have accepted the university punishment and will be expelled for the second summer semester starting July 3. The players will be eligible to participate in preseason practice which begins around Aug. 5, a little less than two weeks BEFORE the end of the second summer semester"....Now, wasn't it Joe Paterno who insinuated that this whole thing was blown out of proportion BECAUSE they were football players? NOW are they receiving special treatment BECAUSE they are football players? How can you be expelled from school, and still participate in extra curricular activities?? Is this a joke? I mean can you still be part of the debate team if you've been expelled???? Heck, these kids just got a break. While many their fellow teammates will be trying to juggle school work AND football practice during the second summer session, Scirrotto and Baker will only have to deal with football. And that's a punishment?????

I don't even know what to say. You Pitt fans should be happy though, because even with Scirrotto and Baker PSU might still lose 5 games.

Seriously. Let's say you're on your high school wrestling team. One day you are caught smoking in the boy's room, which warrants a 3 day suspension from school. Do you think they would allow you to attend wrestling practice with the rest of the team each day after school is out??? Who in their right mind hands out these punishments at Penn State? Next thing you'll know is, the players can use those sticks with a point on the end of them when they pick up the trash in Beaver Stadium after each home game. How hard is that? Just walking around stabbing paper cups with a stick. Unbelieveable!

I question Curly Curley on a daily basis. There's got to be a light at the end of this tunnel. Ya know... when stuff like this happens more and more, you start to question whether or not your coach's upstanding legacy is real, or were things just swept under the carpet all the time? I figure that's not the case, but there's no denying Paterno's complete lack of control now. This has got to change. If this crap happened at any other school (except ND) it would be all over the sports shows. I am extremely surprised, and grateful, that the sports media world has given Paterno so much slack in the past few years. It's time to hire a new coach.
