SlowPa info from Town and Gown 2007
Well, ol' Joe did it again.
In this year's Town and Gown PSU mag, Woe Paterno is said to have actually asked his assistants if Chris Bell was on the team last season. Nothing like having a kid on the verge of a breakout year, and not remembering who he is.
Who is keeping the wheels on the wagon up there? It sure as hell isn't Joe, I can guarantee it isn't Jay, and I have zero faith in McQueary and Anderson. Galen Hall is a 90 year old reptilian. Is it possible that Bradley and Vanderlinden and Johnson are holding that program together?
Here's some more Paterno stuff:
"I never used to watch MASH. Now I watch MASH every night. I'll just turn on the TV and sit and watch MASH. I mean, I never used to watch it. Also I walked out on The Godfather."
I will give him props for this though:
When asked about the NCAA text-messaging fiasco, Paterno goes: "Some of these kids are getting 30 text messages a day from coaches. If I have to send you a love note every morning, our program has problems."
Take this however you want it, I think its posturing:
Some member of the university High Command said: "If we have to take lumps on the field in order to have honor with how we do things, then so be it."

If it's Paterno's goal to outlast Bowden, he may have his work cut out for him.

If Bowden gets to 400 wins, he'll have to coach another 4-5 seasons. That means that Paterno will probably be around at least as long.

JoePa's quote from TAE's post.......

JoePa's memory is fading more than I thought. Does he not remember the hundreds of hand-written letters that one of his assistants sends to recruits?

Re: SlowPa info from Town and Gown 2007
I'd much rather get a hand-written letter than 30 texts from Phil Fulmer or Houston Nutt. I saw one kid said that Fulmer texts him every day. "Hey bro, what number are you wearing when you sign with us?" That powers me down just thinking about it. There's nothing worse than getting idiotic texts that come in multiples of 5 or 10 from the same jackass.
Not to sound overly Conservative, but I can guarantee you that 29 of those 30 texts are from Pete Carroll. Maybe he can tell all his players about how they're the next Reggie Bush, like he's been doing, or else tell them all about the big rap stars they get to hang out with at USC practices. Hey, bring in Snoop Dogg for a day. That's exactly the person you want your players clowning around with: an admitted drug user who has a laundry list of pitiful things he has said about young women. You tell 'em, Snoop, women aren't real people. Hey, I like Snoop Dogg. But do I want him as the guy my kids look up to?
These coaches forget that they are there to mold kids into men during the most challenging point in their life, not just to win sports contests. He is there to make a positive impact ON THEM, AS A PERSON. Not just as a football coach who can get them to the NFL. You guys can make fun of Paterno all day, and I'll join in as well, but Paterno was a great leader of men before he got bats in his belfry. He did things the way it should have been done for decades. Now, well, he's obviously lost touch.

Yeah, I'm going to take any South Park Groupie like Goodwill seriously...TIM-MAY as an avatar at 42 years old???? Do you still compete in X-box tournaments and mini-bike motocross competitions too?
I also love it when fans like TAE pay Joepa homage for the "love note/text message/every day" comment, yet you CONVENIENTLY FORGET the Justin King handwritten letter fiasco.
TAE implies that the higher-ups at PSU want to "do things with HONOR???" OMG, I am falling off my chair laughing, you cannot be serious!!!!!! The only HONORABLE thing to do would be to oust the King. Yeah, I'm sure that will ever happen!!!!!!
Bow down now NitWit fans..........
Jesus...St. Francis of Assisi...JoKepa...Mother Teresa...Mary Magdeline
I LOVE calling the bluff of you BLIND NitWit fans...and you hate it when I do!
The self-proclaimed savior of college football JoePA (ie-"I'm not leaving college football to the Sherrills and Swtizers of the world") criticizes other programs for send a zillion text messages to recruits, yet his assistant Tom Bradley harasses Justin King via snail mail...WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE??? What a vain, senile idiot.
Now...I wonder if Tom Bradley is still writing Lucas Nix 30 handwritten letters a day, even though he's committed to Pitt???
Dear Lucas,
We are begging you to reconsider your commitment to Pitt. We have a lot more advantages...
-We pack the house every weekend and Pitt gets yellow seats as their season ticket base. Our attendance has surely translated into victories as we barely have a .500 record since 1999.
-I think you have great potential as in ILB...remember, we tried to make Todd Hostetler and Gary Brown LBs too. I think that Joe Montana and Danny Marino would've made a great LB too.
-We have a much better community service program...You only have to get up 7 Sundays each fall and pick up trash at The Beav...I'll give you an easy job and put you on hot dog wrappers if you commit by August 15.
-We have a great legal assistance program for our team. As a matter of fact, we had 20 players bum rush an apartment last spring and assault the tenants...and get this: the main perpetrators only had to miss summer school and summer practice...Plus their hearing will be after the season. It looks like that kid at Pitt who just got caught with some hemp in his car may get into trouble. That isn't FAIR; the way we do things is...It's called "The Penn State Way" often referred to as "The Grand Experiment!!!!!!!!!"
Let me know if you're leaning back toward PSU, Lucas. Have a great summer and remember...stay out of trouble.
Sincerely,
Tom "Ipen30handwrittenlettersadaytoLucasNixeventhoughhealreadycommittedtoPittbecausemybossthetrollmakesmedoit" Bradley
