#3 in the nation two years ago. 1 second from undefeated. Two bowl wins in a row over FSU and Tennessee.

By the way, I've been wondering... is it Pitt or Pittsburgh this year?

It doesn't really matter, no one out there watches anyhow. They have other things to do. Right Titan?

Funny thing about that. I recently went down to the Cathedral of Learning. One of Pittsburgh's big attractions. Took about 30-45 minutes to see all the rooms. College football game lasts 3 hours. Now, I'll give you 30 minutes to get from Oakland to Heinz Field, park, and walk over. You'll get a good spot, with no traffic tie-ups, because there is no one at the stadium. So basically what I am say is, even with an hour and 15 minutes gone by, you'll still see half the second quarter and onward. What's the excuse, again?

Oh, Cathedral of Learning is 3 dollars, and even that is optional. Doesn't seem like that is keeping ppl from buying Pitt tickets.

Uhh ohhhh...

Pitt Football Coach Dave Wannstedt got some news today that a coach doesn’t want to receive while preparing to open training camp.

This morning, Pitt senior defensive end Joe Clermond found his name in a feature story in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, tonight his name is on a police report. Pittsburgh Sports Insider has been informed that Clermond was arrested this weekend after Pittsburgh Police found him to be in possession of marijuana. Clermond and a few other people (no other Pitt football players) were pulled over after attending a concert at the Mellon Arena. Sources tell PSI that Clermond is insisting that he wasn’t smoking the marijuana and was just in the car. PSI has also been informed by a different source that also in the car with Clermond were 2 players from another area D-1 college football team.

The Pitt athletic department has acknowledged this weekends incident but has yet to release an official statement. Clermond was a second-team All-Big East selection this past season, when he led the conference with 16.5 tackles for loss — his 1.38 TFL-per-game average ranked 15th nationally — and led the Panthers with 5.5 sacks.

He would have been better off getting 10 of his teammates and breaking into an apartment to deliver a beating.

Dave Wannstedt called JoePa to get some advice on how to handle this situation. Joe told him to have the trial delayed until after the football season and make the player clean Heinz Field after each game. That will teach him.

In other news, ESPN.com released their rankings of all Division I football teams. Penn State plays the bottom three teams in those rankings. Temple, Florida International, and Buffalo.

If you reverse the rankings, PSU plays the top 3 teams in the nation. What do you want from us?

20+ PSU players attack a man and break into his house ... Paterno strongarms the local police, DA and School Judicial Board, then administers no punishment. And gets no local criticism. The State College media is more hostile about it. Meanwhile, the local Pittsburgh media treat it the same as Keith Benjamin's domestic squabble.

Hey, don't get me wrong...Is smoking a little weed a big deal, in comparison to assault and larceny? No. But it's a crime. If Clermond is guilty he deserves kicked off the team, if not out of school. And even if not guilty of the crime, he was guilty of really bad judgement, so he should see some meaningful punishment in the form of reduced playing time. College football isn't a democracy. It's a privilege, not a right. If you want to stop NFL-aspiring players from doing stupid things, hit them where it matters, with PT. If every school did this, there would be far fewer incidents. And that's the key. EVERY SCHOOL needs to do this.

But in reality ... that doesn't happen with the so-called 'elite' schools like Ohio State, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Miami. They set the (low) standard, and the NCAA looks the other way. When OSU suffers absolutely no consequences for outrages like Clarett ... in fact, are REWARDED with national championships ... why should a Pitt or Rutgers be held to a higher standard?

I say: Follow the lead that the Grand Old Man of College football did in enacting his GRAND EXPERIMENT!!!!!

Make Clermond skip the rest of Summer semester (just like JoPA/PSU did to their felons!!!), make him trim Wanny's mustache. Whatever. But don't interfere with practice or PT. And if Jerry Micco threatens to send one of his goons like Cook or Collier to write a hack job on the Clermond incident, don't hide from it. Take the offensive. When confronted, say something like,"Yes, we noticed the way Coach Paterno handled a far worse situation at Penn State, and since all of you folks expressed such admiration for his disciplinary methods, we drew inspiration from it."

Dare Jerry Micco to print THAT.

You know what the best way to become equal with those schools is, Titan? LEARN HOW TO WIN GAMES. DON'T LOSE TO UCONN. WIN YOUR GARBAGE CONFERENCE. Which do you think is easier? Changing the way things are, or slowly becoming one of those "elite" teams? It's definitely the latter, genius. You are absolutely nowhere near the level you think Pitt is at. More brilliant insight from a guy who honest to God seems to get dumber every time he posts.

TAE...Your drivel is entertaining, and extremely stupid.

Nowhere in my post do I mention that Pitt is anywhere near an "elite team." I imply that the so-called elite teams set low standards for their players academically (ie-Hotel and Restaurant management, Parks and Recreation, Turf management, and General Studies just to name a few) and in terme of their conduct (see the rap sheet for PSU players in the last decade)...Thus, why can't a "non-elite program" like Pitt just look the other way and handle the Clermond issue like The Jokster and give him a commendation and make him pick up some empty hot dog wrappers at Heinz Field on Sunday mornings?

The point of my post is that JokePa is eating his own words from "Football: MY WAY" and his program is out of control and a joke. All of his "Grand Experiment" stuff is nothing but a FRAUD. Period. End of story.

JokePa is becoming a "Switzer of the world" himself...and he can look in the mirror and see 12-0 for the rest of his life.

By the way, UCONN is significantly better than Florida International, Buffalo, and Temple.

Why all the hate on Turf Management? I was earning credit towards that degree all through high school.
