Shoemaker to Ridge
Re: Shoemaker to Ridge
Whatever was said and done, it's going to make coaching football at Ridge awkward and even difficult this season for Wilkins. It's the old damned if you do, damned if you don't.
The most important part of all this is that Ridge now has a terrific Middle School principal

Re: Shoemaker to Ridge
According to what I consider to be a reliable source, Wilkins has been "putting his name out there" every year when coaching positions have come available. If it is okay for a coach to do this then why isn't okay for the board to put themselves in a position where they can't be left high and dry should Wilkins decide to go elsewhere? It is also my understanding that Wilkins' contract does not automatically renew at the end of this season. I think the board is only doing what they feel is in the best interests of their students and their football team.
Re: Shoemaker to Ridge
He's putting his name out WHERE?? Don't recall alot of local coaching opportunites coming open lately.
Re: Shoemaker to Ridge
As long as everything is done out in the open then there is nothing wrong. If things are done behind closed doors then wrong.
Re: Shoemaker to Ridge
Heard a rumor the other day from a Ridge fan who said he heard that Wilkins wanted nothing to do with the Lions joining the new conferance next year and was looking for another coaching job. Guess it was ok when he was beating up on those little class A schools the last several years, so I guess he's probably looking for another AA school that plays all A schools to apply to.

Re: Shoemaker to Ridge
Ditto. I would be interested in seeing their reasoning for replacing Coach Wilkins.

If Wilkins was told that this would be his last year then fine, but if Shoemaker was promised the job without Wilkins knowing that he is finished then this IS unethical and underhanded. Those in charge need to have the guts and responsibility to bring a coach in and tell him that this is it. You don't go behind his back and promise someone else the job while he is working his tail off at the beginning of the season.

Uh what was their reason for getting rid of Harland and then Walters ??

Re: Shoemaker to Ridge
Lets all remember that Coach Shoemaker is getting about a 14 grand raise over what he made at Bedford. That would be enough alone for me to make a career move.
With that being said he prob. doesn't like Bedford's super. because he is an ****. As is the entire school board for ever allowing a guy like Coach Shoemaker to be pushed out of his coaching position in the first place. He is a man of great character that teaches much more then just football. He is a great addition to the CR school district. Not only that but its also a great loss to Bedford's. CR hit us with a double whammy there.
I hope Coach Shoemaker does get to coach again and I wish him all the luck in the world. After all he may need it. He is at CR. LOL Easy ridge runners. just joking.

Does the board even know "what" is in the best interest of their students and football team? NO! It's all politics. That's how Ridge is, always has been, and always will be.AmusedObserver wrote:According to what I consider to be a reliable source, Wilkins has been "putting his name out there" every year when coaching positions have come available.
