According to today's Pittsburgh Tribune Review, the pre-trial conference for Anthony Scirrotto and Chris Baker has been MOVED back to November 20th, three days AFTER Penn State's final regular season game at Michigan State. The incident in question happened on April 1st.... My guess is that the trial itself will be held AFTER PSU makes some kind of bowl appearance. These boys will then be punished by missing the first two games of 2008 against Coastal Carolina and Arkansas State. Justice will be served.

When is the Pitt basketball players trial. You know, the one who had to be taken down by a police tazer gun a few days ago? You know, after he reached for the officers pistol.

The difference is, Quarless did NOT hurt anyone. Scirotto and Baker have had NOTHING proven against them yet. This clown tried to take a police officers gun. What was he going to do with it after he got the gun? Shoot it into the air like a bandito and yell around? No, he was probably going to try to kill the cop, or someone innocent that was in the area. Bite on it.

Now you're REALLY reaching ham! Stop talking out of both sides of your mouth. NOTHING has been proven against Levance Fields, either.

I say Jamie Dixon should just exercise JoKepa's form of depth chart justice. Levance should play the whole season, then his trial or hearing should be postponed until after the season (a la Scirroto).....

...OR better yet, if Levance is convicted, then Dixon can play him for the rest of the year and just claim ignorance, that "he didn't know he was convicted/expelled", just like The Jokester did a few years back when he played a felon who was expelled from the university the month before in a bowl game.

Keep trying ham!

Hopefully the Allegheny County Court System will do like their counterparts in Centre County and delay the trial until after the season.

Jamie Dixon has consulted JoePa on the matter and has come up with the following discipline for Fields......Fields will clean the Petersen Events Center after each home game.

Let's clear a few things up. An undercover off-duty cop is working the door. He starts to struggle with an unruly college student that they are trying to remove from the club. During the struggle, the student notices that the one he is struggling with has a gun. What does a kid from the Bronx do when he someone he is struggling with has a gun? Keep in mind, at this point Fields does not know this person is a police officer.

It's funny. Ham thinks Fields should be punished because his actions had the POTENTIAL to hurt someone. On the contrary Joe Paterno thinks that his players should be punished ONLY IF someone is hurt. After all, isn't JoePa's philosophy for discipline "Hey, nobody got hurt".

So it's ok if he reaches for a gun and it's not a cop?

Okay, I'll give it to you, that was pretty good. Honestly, who on this board never drank when you were underage? Quarless just got caught.

Honestly, WPIAL....how can you cut on a guy with 366 Division I-A wins? That means he's ahead of you by.....oh say, 366 Wins.

Also a great man who has given back to the University constantly...
Over $4M to various departments
Over $13.5 M for the expansion of the Pattee Library

Plus he's a humble man who lives in the same house that he bought when he moved to State.

Don't cut down a great man like Paterno, he deserves the upmost respect from all college football fans. I give a great deal of respect to Pete Carroll (though I may not like him), Charlie Weis (though I hate him), Lloyd Carr (ditto), and the list goes on and on and on.

Don't rag on someone who has done what you will never do, win a game as head coach at a major university.

ham,

Put yourself in this scenario. You are at Bubba's Bar and Grill and you get into a heated argument with WPIAL Titan. Words are exchanged and it looks like the two of you are about to throw down. A gentleman in flannel steps in between the two of you but you and WPIAL Titan are still seconds away from exchanging punches. The guy in flannel grabs you, and you start to struggle with him. You notice he is carrying a gun. What do you do next?

Keep in mind, you do not know that this gentleman is a police officer, he is dressed in flannel, not a police uniform.

By your screenname, I will assume you grew up in Bedford County. Maybe with your upbringing, you are going to stop struggling with the man in flannel and allow him to possibly pull a gun on you. Having grown up in the Bronx, Levance Fields probably felt his life was in danger as a man in street clothes, carrying a gun, begins to struggle with him.

Hilltopper, I agree with you. The kid should be punished, but he thought it was a measure of self defense. Since it is a high profile case, Dixon is put in a very tough situation...

I don't think he should be punished as severely as he is going to get.
