Penn State's Future.

So now PSU has 3 winnable games remaining. If they win all three, they go 9-3 again. Not bad on the outside looking in. But when you go 9-3, it makes the general population think that things are going okay. I assure you they are not.

We'll say Purdue is a winnable game, even though it shouldn't be, simply because Joe Tiller is the worst coach in the conference. He should destroy Penn State as well as 4/5's of the other teams Purdue plays on a yearly basis, but PSU should win.

So what is the future? Is this just a waiting game until Joe leaves? Then what? My worry is that if they do decide to bring in an outside coach from the NFL or another school, that will try and force this guy to keep the staff retained. Okay, well, now you just lowered your potential pool of candidates by about 75% because no one worth a "crap" is going to want to do that.

I can't explain in non-vulgar terms what it is like watching these games. Even the wins. Play-action on 3rd and 18. Who in the hell do you think you are fooling? I won't get into too much, because I think the games absolutely speak for themselves, but I am extremely displeased with the way the university allows this garbage to take place.

There are rumors about Bob Stoops supposedly being interested in this job. The good thing about that is that OU was dominant when Mike Stoops was the defensive coordinator. He's about to get the boot in Tucson, so my logic says the Stoops brothers would want to put the pieces back together when they had that great defense. They have not been a great defensive team since Mike Stoops left. All I am saying is, it is a longshot at this stage, but if the timing works out, and Paterno leaves and Mike Stoops gets axed at Arizona, the cards can fall into place.

There's a dozen great candidates. Schiano, Chris Peterson at Boise (I can't believe Nebraska is not throwing money at him already), Ron Prince, maybe Ferentz, always some NFL guys hanging around looking for work, and Bradley, but to be honest, I really think that from what we have seen from Bradley overall, hiring him may be a commitment to mediocrity like we have now. He'll win you 8 games considering Minnesota and Indiana and the OOC, but there's no way in hell Tom Bradley fires the offensive staff. That's a commitment to mediocrity.

We need an overhaul. And it should be noted that Penn State has a young team, but so does Ohio State, and you can almost feel in the air the disparity in coaching between the two programs. It is sad this is allowed to continue, it is very frustrating to see, but at least you know your school has the money to right the ship. Not many other programs do. But the real problem is getting the university to realize the potential they have in this program.

The biggest concern that I have is the fact that Indiana, Illinios, and even Michigan State are making the commitment to become a bigtime program. Penn State who is not, keeps floating around towards the top half of the Big Ten each year usually from 3-6 in the conference. In order for Indiana, Illinios, and Michigan State to became great programs they will have to pass some of these teams at the top. Honestly, I see Penn State being next on the list. This could mean Penn State could fall to a consistant 6-8 best team in the Big Ten. I see it happening more every week. We have young talent but so does all of these teams. These teams will develope it and we will not. Trouble is brewing in Happy Valley.

get out of this thread titan. Your mighty panthers aren't worth anything this year. They lost to uconn.... and a boat load of other semi par teams. They have wont sell out their stadium ever. Penn State has the fans to be able to do it and pitt doesnt. id actually enjoy seeing pitt somehow add on to heinz field to 110000 and see 30000 of the seats taken. that will never happen to penn state even on their dismal 3-9 year they sold out almost every game. so yea in retrospect it is about selling out the stadium because you have fans that believe you can win games... unlike pitt who cant even fill a 65000 stadium.
