Re: Most underrated players in the lhac
I can't speak for the entire conference on this one...but people tend to forget how much mccort's punter pastorek (spelling??) has been contributing. He is consistently making the other team take the ball at least 80 yards to score. Also, although this kid seems to get his fair share of press, somerset's qb runs the option much liek troy harris used to
Re: Most underrated players in the lhac
I know the McCort kids were impressed (prior to this yr.) w/ Kaufman.....good to see him & Somerset do well.....he has been awesome this yr. & gets my vote.....tough kid, very good athlete!
I have to say thank you to me ..." for not being stupid enough to go to Penn State."
Re: Most underrated players in the lhac
To be completely honest I have no idea who sticks out most in my mind as underrated. I thought the entire CC defense was tough as nails when I saw them a few weeks back. I haven't really paid much attention to what they've been doing since then. But man I was impressed with them, especially thier line.
And let's not get ahead of ourselves. The kid from Somerset can run a decent option, but there is nobody that could run the ball like Troy Harris did from that position. As OG said, he was one player that made him sit on the edge of his seat each and every play, because you never knew what you were gonna get out of him. I still have yet to see one offensive player take a game over like TH could when he was at Bedford.

Re: Most underrated players in the lhac
Believe me, I know that Troy was really something else....but I was very impressed with Kaufman's athleticism. Troy's strength was his fakes... defenses had to tackle him, his brother, and marshall on evey play cause you never knew who had the ball. Saying that Kaufman "ran the option" like Troy may have been a stretch, but I think he may be faster and run harder than troy did
What is Harris doing now? Still playing ball in Maine? I know Kyler Ford is the best punter in Ship's conference and I know that Marshall is also playing there....Wow Bedford had a ton of talent in the backfield!

There is no way he runs harder or faster than Troy did. He would have torched Bedford for 300+ if that was so.
Troy is a safety at Maine. He started in spring ball, got injured, worked his way back and is seeing a lot of playing time. Derrick is starting CB for Maine. Ford has one of the best punting averages in the NCAA at his level.
John Marshall is going to school at ACM now. He left Shippensburg for personal reasons, but he has said he'd like to play again if he can someday.

Forcellini's up at Bucknell and from what I heard is seeing some good time after the ACL injury last year.
Adding to what people were saying about Kaufman:
He is the real deal. He's the best runner on the best rushing offense in the LHAC and he also leads the conference in passing efficiency. Better than Pecora, better than DeFrances. He's legit.
It's because of him that Somerset is doing well this year. Somerset will continue their streak and roll right into the playoffs at 8-2 after they demolish the Devils up in Ebensburg. CC looked awful last week vs lowly Westmont and will continue to be embarrassed by Kaufman, Corden, and the rest of the Golden Eagles.

I hear he is interested in the Navy and Navy is very interested in him. After all Somersets O is very similar to Navy's. Kaufman is a very intelligent student which allows for this type of offense to work ( coaches call the play, he calls where and to who at the line! ). I'm not sure if he could play at that level, but he seems like a great fit...
Troy Harris was a phenom on the field. Its a shame they (the team) couldnt get past the first round of the playoffs...

Re: Most underrated players in the lhac
Ok a few more to add to the list:
Logan McDannell (WR Bishop Guilfoyle) - I dont know if its because BG was a newcomer to the LHAC or what, but this kid seemed to fly under the radar this year. Arguably the best big play wideout in the conference (I hear you McCort fans) LM is the closest thing this conference has seen to a "go-get-it" receiver this year
Ryan Krouse (FB Richland) - Pecora may get all the accolades, but without RK he would be much worse off. Krouse gives Richland a respectable inside running threat and brings some toughness to Bailey's finesse offense. His style of play reminds me of LSU running back Jacob Hester.
Will Harris (RB/S Johnstown) - probably the most recognizable of all the names on this list, Harris has basically played his entire career in the shadow of some kid named Reed that you may have heard of before. But man does he play an awfully good second fiddle. A playmaker on both sides of the ball, Harris is a guy that the opposition must account for on every play. I'm interested to see if he plays football or wrestles in college.
Shane McGregor (QB Central Cambria) - it's been a while since CC has had a respectable passing game, but this year it's much improved. 311 yds through the air last week vs Somerset proves SM can throw the ball when given the chance to.
