A Scholastic Notebook of interesting notes...
No Perry ? "or" no Perry Como ???
From the believe it or not file: Perry will "not" be in the City League playoffs.
Perry lost to Schenley, 20-14, in overtime Thursday night, which means Perry can’t make the postseason. This is the first time Perry will not be in the playoffs since 1984.

A "72"-point Quarter !!!!!!!!!!!
Much has been made of Jeannette’s offense this season, averaging "57" points a game. But Smith Center High in Kansas had a recent game in which it scored "72" points in the first quarter.
Smith Center led Plainville, 72-0, and went on to win, 83-0. And this was a playoff game?Hmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, it was a district playoff game between undefeated Smith Center, which has won "50" in a row, and a 4-5 Plainville team.
Smith Center broke the national record for points in a quarter. The old record was "66", set by Prescott High in "1925".

Winning and Losing........
When Burgettstown played Aliquippa in a Class (AA) football playoff game (Friday) it was certainly be a matchup of differing traditions.
Burgettstown was trying to win a playoff game for the first time since "1977". Aliquippa, meanwhile, has won "21" postseason games since "1998" (including P.I.A.A. playoffs)....

Around the Corner *************
Counting the P.I.A.A. playoffs, there is still (seven weeks) left in football season. But the basketball practice officially starts next Monday, November 12th.

Where Are They Now?
Former Sto-Rox star quarterback Adam DiMichele will miss the rest of Temple’s football season after sustaining a fractured tibia in his leg in the Owls’ Oct. 20 against Miami, Ohio. DiMichele had surgery on the leg.( Bummer)!!!!
The injury apparently was serious. Some who saw it on TV compared it to Joe Theisman’s horrific injury when he quarterbacked the Washington Redskins.
DiMichele, a junior, had led Temple two consecutive victories before the injury. He started all eight Temple games and was averaging 199.4 yards passing a game. He had completed 138 of 223 for 1,595 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Against Bowling Green, DiMichele completed 27 of 41 for 299 yards.
