Re: Classifications on the Move
A drop of 37 is not out of line for our area this time around. A lot of schools had significant drops in numbers. Bedford, Ridge, Somerset......are they cheating too because they dropped big numbers in their enrollments? I see no way that in today's information age anyone can fudge the numbers. Schools put out report cards that include enrollments. The state keeps track of a school's enrollment. With other sources of enrollments out there, someone would have caught on if a school was cheating the numbers.
Re: Classifications on the Move
Weren't we just told that all schools submit their numbers to the PIAA, then the PIAA looks at all the numbers, and then adjusts the cutoffs for each of the 4 classes? So how can any school, FH included, submit numbers to avoid a particular class when no one knows what the cutoff will be until ALL schools submit ALL numbers. Nice try guys. I do know one thing. ANY class A private school can STAY class A just by keep their enrollment down. They can just stop admitting kids, period. Public schools must go with the flow, whether it be up or down in attendance. Private schools have the best of both worlds. They can play up a class if they want to; they can stay the same as long as they want.

But he was a muffin
He hung around till you found
That he didn't know nuthin'

You know some people...are made of wood
Some people... have hearts of stone

Okay, back to the here & now, for the next 2 year cycle the number goes down as the AA - AAA cutoff lowers to 328....& guess what FH now has only 300 boys (in gr 10 thru 12)
why are only grades 10-12 calculated when HS range from 9-12 and if Freshmen are allowed to play varsity??
and a more interesting question: does that girl kicker for (BG or Ridge?) get 'counted' toward the male population or does she simply 'not counted'???
Re: Classifications on the Move
When you're a public school with "definite borders", that's the way things go. Populations rise and fall with employment rate, divorce rate, birth rate, etc etc. Hard to control what happens within a district. All kids that attend Vo-Tech are counted in the total. All special needs kids (does BM have any of these?) are counted in the total too. The totals are submitted in good faith. Whatever the cutoff is, it is. That's the way it goes. Again, it would be BRILLIANT to fugure out a certain total, maintain it, and to submit a number "one under" the AAA classification by deception. BRILLIANT!!!

District 5-6 AAA teams need to play in a super region with District 9.

Moldo
If you think a private school would stop accepting students into their school in order to play in a lower class of football then you are insane. When it comes down to it, money is money and that school will be bringing in more money by allowing more students. To even think a school would not accept students so maybe they could go further in the playoffs for different sports is not only absurd but its bad business and thats what a private school is, a business. I don't know if that bad FH paranoia condition you have is making you lose your marbles, but come on man. Think?

username: What are you talking about? BM taking in a couple of local football players here and there off of other teams is not going to upset their standing in their classification. But it's enough to get that unfair advantage I was talking about.
