Anyone have any thoughts on who the Tribune-Democrats offensive and defensive players of the year will be?

Offense possibilities:

Varga
Defrances
Reed
Pecora

Defensive pssibilities: I have no idea, maybe the d end from CC

Offensive player of the yr should be split: Air Jordon & Matty V.!! Actually it's a no-brainer if you think about it

I believe Pecora should be awarded with the offensive MVP for his athletic ability and his leadership qualities. Richland won games they would not have without him.

The McCort kids you've mentioned are both great selections, however I believe Pecora was more important to his teams' success and I also believe he was the most outstanding player in the area this season.

What were Reed's final numbers on the season? I believe at one point he was averaging 9 yds/rush....I imagine he'll get the most outstanding offensive player. On defense, probably "that CC DE" but varga will be in the voting with several int's and a game-clincher in the district championship.

I agree Pecoro is a sick athlete, but Varga and Defrances did win the D6 title....

Varga did have an amazing year, but I think the writers look at tackles and sacks more than anything. Its ashame, but true. CC's end was a distruptive force...and I don't know anything about the WestPac. Did any kids put up ridiculous amounts of tackles?
